Using sound tube mount for catch can mount
After taking out the sound tube, I am using the OEM bracket and bolts to secure the catch can bracket to the block.
Three plastic torx screws and we have the OEM bracket, which has grommets and the right spacing to reuse the OEM bolts to secure it. Here's a pic with the catch can bracket installed. Need to get the can in. I opted for the Elite E-2x and with that I have just enough room to turn the ball valve to drain into something I'll fashion up, like a water bottle with the skinny part cut off. I won't have to take the can out or unscrew the bottom. I'd install the rest but dropped a friggin bolt into the engine abyss. |

Looks good. Any concern about possibly dripping residue on a belt when emptying?

No. I've used paper cups and just open the valve then close it- no spillage. There's no belts immediately below it either, just really nearby.

Looks great man!!! Would like to see this set-up in person some time!!! I want to get a Mike Norris Can, but he hasn't been able to come up with any mounting system yet. Hmmm, maybe this would work? I suppose I need to get a CAI with sound tube delete first!!!

Thanks, I am confused by your first pic of the mounting bracket which looks like black plastic, but the bracket shown in the other pics looks different and is shiny metal???

Well my links are dead. The black plastic is from the sound tube. It's where the diaphragm for the sound tube is connected. I removed the tube assembly from the engine block by unscrewing the two torx bolts then unscrewed the 3 (maybe 2 can't recall) torx screws that connected the "passenger" side of the sound tube with the "driver" longer side and ended up with the black bracket that used to be pictured here. I sistered this bracket with the Elite metal bracket, which is why you saw their standard metal bracket being used around the can.
Works great for me. The sound tube has grommets where the torx bolts go, which seems nice to maintain. The Elite clamp is secured by being sistered up with one of the two stock torx bolt locations. The bolts hold secure. |

Put some heat shield on the coolant line because the can gets really hot.
