Finally An All Season Tire That Fits
I finally found an all season tire that I think I can run on our wheels during the winter in Atlanta. Bridgestone has Potenza RE980AS in the following sizes; 285/35/20, 295/30/20, and 305/30/20. I was thinking of using the 295/30/20 on the front. It's only 10mm larger. Can anyone provide feedback on fit? I can't imagine that 5mm each way would make a difference but I thought I would post to be sure. I think I have seen others running 285/35/20 on the front so the height should be fine. Bridgestone does not have rim width recommendations on their website for this size yet. I assume 295/30/20 is good on a 10 inch rim. Anyone have any feedback on that?

It gets priced out to $951.96 I was going to do the BFgoodrich comp 2 A/S but i guess there no longer supported through tirerack..damn. The price OTD was $801 when i kept checking. Size would've been 275/30/20 and 295/30/20 i believe.

I just went through the process of trying to find an all seaosn tire and first I tried the bf goodrich g force comp 2 a/s 285/35/20. They did not fit in the front the tire was rubbing everywhere. I am pretty sure you will get same result with every 285/35/20 tire because there is minimal clearance.
The only tire I was able to find that fits is the continental dsw 06 285/30/20, its a little stretched on the rear wheel but it works. |

For sizes, I wanted to run the 295/30/20 on the front and the 305/30/20 on the back and I was trying to find out if there would be clearance issues on the 295. That is only 10mm which would just be 5mm on each side. I know clearance is tight with the magride and wanted to see if anyone had experience with that size on the front.

Unfortunately we get some strange dips in temps that get pretty cold. It usually happens in Dec and Jan but I want to be able to daily drive with no restrictions. Once or twice a year we will get a light dusting of snow but nothing that really sticks.

I installed the Bridgestone RE-71R in the 295/30/20 sizes on my stock wheels. The only problem was getting the tires to seat on the front 10" wheels. It took the tech quite a while. There is no rubbing at 2.5 degrees negative camber. The rears were easy to mount and no rubbing at 1.5 degrees negative camber. Hope this helps. |

At least he's not keeping them on year-round. At least, I hope he doesn't.

Bridgestone also makes a Potenza RE970AS in stock front size. Add the RE980AS on the back in stock size and enjoy the car year round in any weather I went with RE970 in the front and S0001 in the back, and yes that will be for the entire year.
