Wrong. There are tons of posts here by folks that actually know what it includes. That $995 is a huge performance upgrade on non-1LE cars and a slight upgrade on ZL1 and 1LE cars as the rotors are larger.

This is directly from the order guide. If you want to know why this options comes with 6 piston front/4 piston rear, I suggest using the search function on this forum.

Clearly $1k down the toilet.

Only way I talk myself off the ledge is by going out to the garage and staring at the massive Big brake kit.

Can these be ordered as a performance accessory? That looks sharp. I was never a fan of the red.

Those six pot calipers are a $3200 stand alone option on a LT1, and that's fronts only.

Looks to me to be a bargain considering it only adds 995 and you get basically the big brake kit that is much more. A Easter egg bargain snuck in.

I was willing to pay the 995 last year for the brakes, now with the price increase on the V8 its a $2800 in total upcharge. The $500 bump seems like a better deal with the 1LE, which I originally wanted, but don't like the recaros. The way I drive I like to sit with my left leg sideways. I will try to finesse my supplier discount when the car arrives.

I still don't understand...I get it that copper free is required in Cali and Oregon, but can you even get a copper free version of the standard SS brakes i.e. 4 piston front and rear? It seems like the upgrade to 6 pots may be required to get copper free

You can get the copper free in 4 of the RPO brake options.

No, when you select BCD-Copper Free Brakes, it replaces the base SS brakes and replaces them with the black 6 piston front/4 piston rear brakes and larger rotors. Total cost is $995 for a standard SS. For SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE, it's a $500 and includes the above but they are red instead of black.

That's the point we're trying to make. For $995 you're getting an amazing brake upgrade over the standard SS brakes.

The reason they are doing this is because the copper free brakes that GM had available on the shelf that would fit this car are from the CT5-V Blackwing. They basically took Blackwing brakes and rebranded the calipers for Camaro. Easy solution

The copper free brakes have the largest rotors of any model including the ZL1. The fronts come from the CT5-V.

I've said it in another thread. $1000 for big brake kit from the factory. Deal of the century. Someone said someone at GM mustve made a mistake
