Unfortunately the Camaro just weighs too much to keep up. Physics are working against it. If 755 wasn’t enough for the ZR1 to keep up with the C8Z, 850 may not be enough for the ZLE. Go figure out hp per lb for the ZR1 then do the math……….you’ll be around 825 for the ZLE. Then to negate the heavier car with the same brakes, you’ll need even more power, likely 850+. At that point the chassis/tires can no longer use the extra power so you never overcome the limitation of the FE chassis or the weight of the Camaro. Still a great car…..just slower.

Lol. The Camaro is literally the fastest car in the field that isn’t a hyper car. Did something get lost in translation? Haha.

A C8 Z06 Z07 is not faster than a C7 ZR1 period. You will need to wait for the C8 ZR1.

It basically has proven to be the same as a C7 Z06 on equal tires.

I recall reading the all wheel C8 e-ray is the faster 0-60 right now?

Yes. The Camaro is 7 seconds slower than the ZR1 and new Z06 Corvette. The question and answer was what HP was needed to overcome that 7 seconds. The answer is likely over 850hp as the FE chassis and weight of the Camaro is limiting.

Someone also invoked Meros name. Mero himself admitted the ME would be better and believed the new Z06 would be the first GM car to complete the ‘ring in under 7 mins.

As for drag racing…….who cares. Plenty of ways to be fast in a straight line. Not many on a road course.

Actually the ZR1 is slower than the new Z06:

1) about a second slower at VIR
2) 0-60 about .25 seconds (2.85 ZR1 vs. 2.60 C8Z)

Yes, by a tenth. 2.5 seconds to 60 vs. 2.6. But then like most EV’s it’s toast.

You are again quoting the LL lol. As we have all told you, the C7 ZR1 is on tires that were designed in 2013. On equal Cup2Rs ties, you can drop 4 seconds off the lap time.

Second, a C8 Z06 Z07 has not beaten Jim Mero's time in a C7 ZR1 at VIR.

Last, Will Farmer ran a much faster time in his C7 ZR1 than he ran in his C8 Z06 - Both in MPH and ET.

You quoted 0-60 times lol from GM.

The ZR1 was on lesser tires genius.

Reread this thread in its entirety and try to comprehend it.

I kind of feel bad for him. He really doesn't get it. Some guys read the brochure and take these magazine tests as gospel.

I know just not me. Got sick of running 9 or 10 seconds and then just sitting in the pits. Road racing is so much more fun and rewarding when you get it right. Comparing your 1/4 mile times to John Force is pretty unlikely. Getting your Corvette within a few ticks of Randy Probat or Mero though is pretty cool. Sadly some on here just don’t get it. GM gives them the most capable road car and they just drive it in a straight line. LOL

As for me I'm a Drag Racer , I do appreciate and watch all forms of Car Racing. I try to live by the rule of not stepping on toes . I respect folks and what there interest is tho it's not mine . In this case we are talking your interest Road Racing , I keep my thoughts to just thoughts . I do this generally in life . I have read all you posts in this thread , and a better use of my time would of been to go sit in the reading room , with out any reading meteral .

If a person feels the need to rip someone's hobby or interest because it's different, IMPO they are just discrediting them selfs .
Now if I was at a Road Race event , and that person was in the class on the track doing time laps , It would be time to get up go for a walk and buy a beer.

For the first time last year I went drag/roll racing. It was a fun day honestly. I probably wouldn't invest too much money into it but it was exciting and I duffed up a Challenger in a roll race.

I think with pure drag racing it really comes down to one's skill launching the car. And with today's technology - paddle shift etc., it's almost like a lost art form. I wish I could have experienced drag racing in the 70s-80s in all of its glory. Those must've been some fun times.
