Well this sucks
I just found out the VP Heads Up racing series I've run over the last several years has moved to another track. That sucks because if I want to run that series I have to travel 190 miles one way instead of 152. Not sure I want to make the longer trip 8 times with the additional costs and miles on my truck and trailer plus the additional cost for fuel. The series typically runs all day between rounds of the normal bracket series so it generally drags on thru the evening so I used to get home as late as 1am the next day because of the long distance to the track. Now adding another almost 40 miles one way just gets me home later. I had planned to race the complete series of 8 races to try and win the series. Looks like that's not going to happen. Now I'm in no hurry to buy the TCM with really no series to race this year except the bracket series and we only get one time trial so don't really want to spend 200 buck with entries, fuel and food to get one pass and possibly get beat in the 1st round by guys that race every weekend, I'm pretty good on the tree but they run electronics and it hard to beat a guy with a delay box and trans brake with a foot brake car. Shit the bed Fred.

Yeah that will end up costing you the better part 90+ minutes a day in extra travel (on top of a long drive to begin with). Would be a deal breaker for me too.

Our track has added some additional TNTs plus and extra time trial this year so maybe I'll race at some events in the PRO class since it doesn't allow delay boxes but does allow a trans brake and I'll hit several of the TNTs. The VP series was pretty cool as it was heads up and instant tree so I'm pretty good on those lights compared to a tall .500 tree. I'll figure out how many I can make and go from there.

Update, looks like WWT has decided to start their own VP Heads Up style racing. Good to go.

I dont recall how the matchups work, but youd kick my ass one way or another. I do cut a decent light on the .400 pro tree though during testing.

I used to be a pretty good bracket racer on a bike. Then the main series I raced scheduled every race on my weekend to work. I ended up turning to grudge and street racing, kinda backwards but it was my best option for competition. We have a lot of back of the track no preps around me and that's why I've been doing mostly the last few years. Anything like that close to you?

That track in Odessa MO is supposed to be up and running by OCT. Not sure if that's closer to you or not ,but its going to be very nice.

[QUOTE=TOSTO RACING;11291842]Greg,
That track in Odessa MO is supposed to be up and running by OCT. Not sure if that's closer to you or not ,but its going to be very nice.[/QUOTE I've been keeping up with that build, however, at 71 years old there have been many promises of new tracks that never materialized, I think this one might make it, a very good friend of mine in KC knows the investors and he says it's going to happen. Yes, it's about 40 miles closer, its 155 to WWT and 115 to the Odessa track. I just have to go thru Columbia which is a breeze compared to going thru St Louis. I planned on quitting this fall and selling my car, however if that new track opens, I'll re-think that decision. I really like racing at WWT, I've never had a track closer then the old KCIR and it was 140 miles but a fairly easy trip cause you didn't have to get into the downtown traffic like STL. It will all work out so I'll just keep trudging along till it time to give it up.
