I think an enthusiast in general, whether for cars or other stuff like games, is someone who is pretty much immersed in the culture. For example, if you say something like "I like the Camaro" but can't give any worthwhile reasons on why you like it (aside from how it looks), then you're not an enthusiast. If you make the same statement but can sound like.you're giving an in-depth review, then you're on your way to becoming an enthusiast along with doing things like working on your car, becoming part of a car club/community, doing track days, etc.

Yes I consider myself a car enthusiast and probably will be until I die. When I was about 8 years old I took an interest in cars especially the muscle cars of the mid to late 60s which were new at the time. All my Camaros I have owned since my first in 1982 were new and had manual transmissions except for the 2017 ZL1 I bought used but a 6 speed too. I like drag racing, NASCAR and other forms of car racing so definitely I could be classified as a car enthusiast. I’m a member of a local car club and participate in car shows and if I don’t then I go to look at the cars and trucks.

You sure don’t. That said he blew up the forum asking a billion questions. Then buys an LT1. Then posts every few days about the fact it hasn’t gone “kaboom” yet. Then promptly traded it in on a bolt. He just rubs me the wrong way. Lol. That’s all. I think if you don’t own a Camaro go away.
That’s just my opinion and I may be a bit of an asshole sometimes. |

I'm 39, I still have my 86 iroc from when I was 17. I did everything in that car over the years, daily driver, drag racing, auto cross ect. Countless weekends at car shows or cruises. Got a '02 R6 and fell in love with doing track days. Then got a '01 Hayabusa and fell back in love with stupid fast speed.
Then by my early 30s, life happened and stuff got put on the back burner. Ended up selling the motorcycles and just having my truck (kept all stock). But then when we moved I wanted to get back into a "faster" vehicle. Thankfully, financially, i was in a good place and able to grt my '18 ZL1 back in Nov of '20. Had to fly to Texas to grt it but made the road trip back to AZ with the wife a fun weekend trip. Now I'm just enjoying the car. I'll mod it alittle, but not like I use to mod stuff. Wanna keep it more on the reliable side. Last edited by AZIROC; 04-26-2021 at 01:48 PM. |
