Here's a question I thought of for you guys who are doing it right:

When you have everything engaged and floor the pedal, does it momentarily go up to the redline area and then fall back down and hold, or does it get up to 4000 ish and just stop?

EDIT: My car is parked at my farm for the weekend (I am working the weekend and don't want it parked in the city. Just safer at the farm)
So since I can't look for myself, is there a setting in the 'Config' area of the car (There is a config button on your radio) that deals with the Comp Mode? Maybe it is turned off in there, cause I know some people's ambient lighting and chimes were disabled and they had to 'config them' back on.

Just brainstormin' here

It stops at 4000 an holds as long as you don't move the clutch or gas pedal. Remember both to the floor clutch first.

its GOTTA be a software issue. i tried it more times than i really wanted to. readthe book before every try (it always said the same thing BTW) it just never worked. i would not hold my right foot down after it got past 5K.
i really hate the thought of the dealership "testing" it without me there!

could it be that i am putting the gas down too slow?

i will most likely always "self-launch" but it think that it should work as advertised.... and it will "impress friends and small children!" LOL

Your right Dealership trying this is very scary. Don't leave the car there. I can see how this can get real bad quick if not done right.

Well I am outta here for the night. If someone could check if there is anything launch related in the 'config' for me, that would be awesome. I am picking up my car from the farm on Tuesday when I am off work again, I will investigate further at that time.

Competitive Mode

Competitive Mode is an optional handling mode.

• To turn on the Competitive Mode, press the StabiliTrak/Traction Control button twice quickly. Competitive Mode will be displayed in the Driver Information Center.

• Press the button again to return to normal StabiliTrak/traction control operation.

Launch Control (V8 with Manual Transmission)

Launch Control is a form of traction control that optimizes wheelspin while launching the vehicle. It is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill while in Competitive Mode.

When the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor with the clutch engaged, the RPM is limited to a predetermined level. Releasing the clutch while keeping the accelerator pressed to the floor provides controlled wheelspin and acceleration.
Last paragraph...shouldn't the clutch be dis-engaged at this point. If it was engaged you would be haulin' arse!

Well this is interesting, I hadn't tried it yet so I figured what the hell
So I went out to an unused road to try it.

Competitive mode, clutch all the way to the floor, gave it gas till I saw it hit 5K, let off the gas. Tried it again, then even tried it in normal mode. Did not hold at 4K out of 4 tries

when i first got mine it went straight to the red line, u have to let the computer learn the car and the way u drive first, i just put 500 miles on it and it stops right at about 4000 rpms, it lets the tires slip a bit then grabs and goes

"A-Pillar" molding? if so, search for a thread containing "pillar" in the title. (mines been popped out since day 1.)

saw that before... love it!

another point/question about competitive mode...
the words "competitive mode" shows up in the DIC but then goes away after a few second.... should it stay on? (the little "burnout" icon stays on in the tach)
thanks all for tryin!
