"hard pedal" / Ice Mode - what does it feel like?
Hey folks -
4th track day with a '21 SS 1LE (Camber plates, Glock R12/R8 pads, 315-30-18 square RT660), largely running in PTM Race. Last time out at Sonoma running the chute config. This has a three hard braking zones at Turn 4, 7 and 11. I found that going into 4 and 7 I would occasionally get a high hard pedal when I'd transition from full throttle to hard on teh brakes. The pedal would kick back on me if I pushed harder on it. I found that if I slowed down the full throttle to brakes transition by what felt like a 1/10th of a second the weird pedal feel would not occur. So question - Is what I'm experiencing here what's been referred to as ice mode or hard pedal? It sure does feel like it... |

For me it feels like a regular pedal, I just don't get an initial bite and the car doesnt slow down right away. Just feels like the ABS is overriding my braking input and not pinching the pads.
Edit* Maybe it feels like a "hard" pedal. I honestly can't remember, id have to feel it again to be able to tell you that with 100% certainty. |

Couple things ... First I have a regular SS, run all nannies off and 315/30/18 square AR1's. I definitely get the hard pedal with too quick of a transition from WOT to full brake. I recently have been trying to just delay the full braking just a little bit, seems to be effective. Secondly, who were you running with at Sonoma that ran the chute? I've never seen that configuration offered before. |
