Need wheel and tire recommendations for high HP ZL1

I have a built 2018 ZL1 1LE making 980 whp on 93, 1300 whp on E85, and 1500 whp on C16. My current drag pack is 15" Belak beadlocks with M/T Street R 275/60R15. The car has a 9" rear with 15" brake conversion, DSC sport controller with their Tractive active coilover suspension, and MoTeC ECU handling the boost and traction control.

I'm looking at getting a street setup for 40/60 rolls with Forgeline beadlocks in 17/18 x 11" rear and need some guidance on tires between Nitto 555r2, Nitto NT05R, Toyo r88r or RRs, or M/T Street R. Based on what I'm reading, I should be able to fit a 325 tire. Max tune for the street is 1300 whp on E85.

I think if you go 19” you can run a 335/345 R888R out back which would probably be the best bet for roll racing. I love the high speed stability of that tire over typical drag radials but that’s just me. On the strip, I just switched to 325/50/15 ET Street R on D5 Beadlocks and hope to give those a rip at my local track soon.

Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate the advice. Do you think a 19" rear is the better option vs 18' to gain a little more sidewall?

Hmmm…made me look it up lol

18”
335/30ZR18 RIM: 11.5-12.5 OD: 25.9”. WIDTH: 13.5”

19”
345/30ZR19 RIM: 11.5-12.5 OD: 27.2”. WIDTH: 13.8”

The 19” is taller which will help blunt the torque (a little lol) and is a tick wider. If you can fit that, that’s my choice and likely my choice next year. I love the OEM 20” SS/1LE wheels but there’s just not enough sidewall for crappy Mass roads. I’m currently running 315/30/20 R888R on the street and like them but could use more sidewall. Extra 30mm width won’t hurt either.

Don't worry Chief, there's a reason he is after tire recommendations. No size or compound is able to hold that power on the street where you'd want somewhat normal, usable tires, so his car is just a smokier burnout machine

Can vouch that Arpad is one of the best guys on this board. I’m sure it was all in good fun.

@ArmedTrashPanda: what do you think about my 18”/19” tire thoughts? I just can’t picture trying to run my 15” Beadlocks on the street.

All good! On a serious note, I do think I can put the power down with the right tire. The MoTeC ECU gives me very granular control over the boost, and its traction control is second to none. The HP numbers I quoted are at max boost. I have 10 different boost control settings on my steering wheel that I can dial up/down based on the road conditions. The DSC sport controller with active suspension also is also a big improvement over the DSSVs.

Yes! So I've been comparing tire and wheel combos. I think the 18" rear is the way to go because that's the largest M/T Street R tire. That will give me the most versatility in switching between Toyo and M/T.

Rear: Toyo R888R 335/30ZR18 - wheel width 11.5-(12.0)-12.5, O.D. 25.9”, Width 13.5”, Revs Per Mile 801

Front: Toyo R888R 295/30R19 - wheel width 10.0-(10.5)-11.0, O.D. 26.0”, Width 11.8”, Revs Per Mile 798

__________________________________________________ ___

Rear: M/T Street R P325/35R18 - wheel width 10.0-(11.0)-12.0, O.D. 27, Width 13.1”

Front: Toyo R888R 285/35R19 - wheel width 9.5-(10.0)-11.0, O.D. 26.9”, Width 11.4”, Revs Per Mile 773

__________________________________________________ ___

Based on these tire combos, I'm considering an 11.5” rear wheel and 10.5” front.

I need to confirm if a 1” difference in O.D. between the front and rear tires will cause an issue with the traction control and/or ABS.
