I'm not a fan of 2 tiered systems. Give all members the same website, advertisements and all.

What do you mean 2 tiered system? I'm just talking about all of us not having a problem with a few banner adds.

Edit, I was on the phone with Scott and he explained it to me. I'm not talking about different levels of viewing. This is the only forum I've ever been on. I was just saying that I like it here so much that I'd pay to stay if I had to so I don't have any problem with ads.

Typically if there are members who pay, they don't view the advertisements that everyone else has. Sometimes there are convenience items, such as maximum posts per thread, that get restricted for non-paying members. All content is still available, but premium members get a few perks for their subscription.

I'm with you. I guess that can work for some sites but I'd think it would keep a lot of people away. I Ended up here at C5 because it was the easiest to navigate. And there are a lot of people out there like me, I would assume, that feel the same.

Bonnie is a member of another site (not cars) and when she wants me to help her with something or to read something it's irritating to navigate through all the crap. I never understood how there was a free account and a free account. I guess now I do.

Of course I'd pay for some more PM space.

Ya. On AIM, I told you there was an ad on C5 and the frist thing you asked was "In the open forums, or on the front page?"

As far as google ads, I was told by another forum owner if they are just clicked, the site that has them listed gets a few coins for the click. The person just has to click on the ads every now and then, you don't have to buy anything just visit the other site and the host site gets money. Somebody that really knows how they work could let us know and if this is the case, all you would have to do is click on a few ads once in a while and you would be giving back to the site.

That would be the problem with google adds, the only folks who will still pay for just clicks and not a sales turn over are the worst of the worst for the most part.

Nice write up here: http://arstechnica.com/business/news...s-you-love.ars

Found it on digg... some of the comments there are pretty good also (with ideas instead of just mostly ripping on them).
