What is up with the ricer's exhaust sound?
Now that I have my Camaro, I've taken notice of all the ricers driving around with coffee can mufflers on the back of the car, sounding like a buzz bomb droning over England in WW2. They keep getting close to me and buzzing around like a fly- bzzzzzzzzzz ..... bzzzzzzzzzzzzz... do they think that sounds cool or something? Is that meant to impress or annoy the competition? Jeez, I've never heard so much noise coming from a car that was barely moving.
Just had to rant- that damn buzzing sound is wearing thin. Good thing I have the power to get away from those damn flies.

Heard one last night but couldn't tell where it was coming from. Looked at the cars around me, none looked ricer by any means. Then I spot it! Late model Volvo S40 with a fart can muffler to my right. Way to rice out your mom's Volvo pal. Hurry home with the groceries before the milk turns

i see them from time to time
it does annoy me though, ive looked at all the ricers and they all seem to be white or latino males age is like 17-26. hair spiked, they all seem to play rap or linkin park does a ricer exhaust give any HP gain or is it for sound only?

Theres a 4th gen camaro that drives by me work that sounds like that.
I need to get a pic of it one day. It's blue and primer gray with lowering springs , a single huge muffler, a spoiler bolted onto the spoiler, body kit thats missing the rear piece, and it's a V6. It's hideous and needs a slug put through the motor, but is also freaking hilarious to watch go up the on ramp. Other than that a 3rd of import hatchbacks from the late 80s and early 90s seem to have this around me. |

but the muffler company logo stickers add at least 10-15hp, depending on the size

- X P.S. - it also seems to me that most of the "fart" sound comes from the large 4-6 inch outlet on those mufflers. I mean, there was discussion about 4 inch tips causing a megaphone effect on our V6; think about a larger tip on a smaller engine.
