How do I tell the build date?
Open your hood and look down to your left , you'll see what appears to be a white / silver sticker on the right lower strut above the control arm. The sticker will have your VIN # and a date / time stamp . Based on the production counts back then ( one shift ) you can add approx 4 hrs to the time stamp . This will give you a pretty good time frame as to when your Camaro rolled off the line. So as an example : 04/16/09 8:00am would mean your steering component's will be delivered to the plant and be ready to get married up with the chassis approx 3-4 hrs later . Which would put your car off the line after 12 noon . Now of course this does change based on the time of day or end of week , but it does narrow it down to almost a particular day and time vs month . Hope this helps

^^^^ not always the case. That date can be several days off. This has been discussed
here many times. During the Oshawa plant open house there were completed chassis
sitting there which were built days before that stickers date.

Yup I have an R6P, got the car on June 17th, 2009.

Gotta ask where did you get the headlight covers? I have never seen those. I have LED's in my Razzi body kit and those LED's on the headlights would look good.

super60 indicated that a 4 hour time frame was how to determine the build date of your Camaro. Again, when I was at the plant back in June 2011, I personally checked chassis dated with units on the floor. Not all had just arrived for assembly within hours. As an example my '10 SS left front suspension rail is time stamped 8:40 AM on 8/3/09. It was off the assembly line on 8/4/09. It was "Produced" (3800) on 8/5/09 @ 4:37 AM. It was Invoiced on 8/5/09.
Again, I'm just saying that suspension sticker can be close but it is not ALWAYS 100% accurate as to the time your car was completed.

With regards to your Camaro , you are correct there is a time difference there of more then 4 hours , what you fail to take in consideration is the possibility of a work stoppage from either a breakdown or parts shortage , repairs etc.. so there is always a possibility of more then fours hrs . Also your particular 5thgen would have been produced and ok'd only on the day shift ( 6:30am - 2:30 pm ) as we were only on a one shift production schedule back in 2009. Yours was off the line on 08/04/09 which would put it within the 24 hr time frame.

I was trying to give everyone a little more defined build day ( within 24 hours give or take ) vs someone who only has their build month .

Its the best info I can give you in order to zero in on the birth date , remember you have to factor in Saturday times , we didn't work Sundays so that will cause a delay on your times.

And on a side note : We are a " just in time " assembly operation , so its vitally important that components leave from their assembly point in order to meet the main vehicle . 100 % of the build has to link up within a set time , having it arrive or not arrive will as you can appreciate cause major headaches !!

I'm impressed with the low miles on all these earliest models.

Who is still on this site that owns an early order Camaro?

Still here with mine. She's a May 09 car. How do I find out when she was born and if there is a production # attached to her?
