I just looked in one of my books. It looks like there was an option for body belt moldings which could explain the chrome. That would be extremely rare. The hood however makes no sense, the 426 hemi enblems on the hood shouldn't be there and the decal in the air cleaner isn't correct. I have no doubt that it is a real superbird. The back window and the Apillars give it away more than anything. Very interesting to say the least.

Also, the owner has it listed as Hemi orange. While it's the same color as Hemi orange, it was called Tor red on Plymouths.

Also the Hemi wasn't factory rated at 700HP. His failure in accuracy makes me wonder about the other things that dont add up.

You are correct that black vinyl is standard, but this is a special order roof car:

I know some of us are questioning the legitimacy of these cars and weather or not they are or are not clones, I`m not saying that they aren`t real but if you did in fact want to make a reproduction Superbird it really isn`t all that hard to do, the hardest part would be the rear window plug, the other parts can be found as reproduction or reconditioned salvaged OEM`s. Google Superbird reproduction parts.

Im not questioning if they are real. I believe them to both be real. They just options and other things going on that raise a flag for me and make me wonder how. We all know that certain people in the know and with the right pull often got cars the way they wanted them even though you weren't supposed to be able to. It just interesting to me as a long term MOPAR fan.

Thanks for posting that. I was going to ask if you had that. Very interesting. I haveseen one other white top Superbird, but it wasn't factory according to the owner. I have never seen one with the white headlight trim

Edit: It looks like the car has white interior. By the window tag you posted, it should be black. Also. V19 CODE would be on all Superbirds. That doesn't mean it is to be white.

I was always a Mopar/Plymouth or Chevy owner for a very, very long time, the thing that raises a red flag for me and doubt the legitimacy of the orange Superbird is where the owner states on the placard "Unusual for Superbirds, R/T hood". That was never an option and it would require for it to be pulled off the production line and set aside for a "special" hood to be made and installed which I have serious doubts of that being the case, also Hemi Orange is not a paint option, Vitamin C yes, Hemi no.

Edit; And just one other thing that didn`t look right to me, "The rear quarter panel decal "Plymouth" was normally white on blue and red cars, while black decals were found on green, orange, white and yellow cars."

This is the Superbird`s standard and options list, this site also uses Galen Govier for their source information.

You must not have read my posts. Tor Red and Hemi Orange or the same color. It was called Tor Red on Plymouths and Hemi Orange on Dodges. So, technically he is right ,but it wasnt called that in a Plymouth.

I read it, the paint code is EV2 or V2 take your pick for both Hemi Orange and Tor Red that I understand, it`s just that if you`re going to place information on a placard you identify it by the correct manufacturers name if want to lend legitimacy to the cars accuracy as a Superbird and not by calling it something different that`s all I`m trying to get at with this car.

Yep, we are saying the same thing.

The hood on the red one is a huge flag to me, be the right hood was a modified Coronet hood. The decal on the air cleaner is wrong. Also there are components under the hood that should be there. I have a hard time buying the the wheel arch moldings and tail surround moldings are factory. I would love to see the sheet on that car. The rear window and A plillars say it is real though. Very odd.

The rear window plug can be replicated with a fiberglass plug. And no I`ve never seen chrome wheel well trim on a Superbird either!
