Got a ‘19 1SS A10! Question for SS owners.
Back in a Camaro again after a couple years of not having one. Got a '19 1SS A10 in Shadow Gray Metallic the other day. Zero options except the automatic. Borla S-type axle back already ordered.
First off love the car. The A10 is awesome...no complaints. Handling and power is seriously impressive. Only about 100 mi so far. I expected road/tire noise and there's that but I always hear these little pebble or tinny ticking sound coming from the rear passenger area and what sound like from the wheel area. The sound is more frequent on the freeway and less frequent noticeable on side roads but still there. Sounds like every little pebble on the freeway bouncing off the tires like a little tinny metal tick. It's not super loud or anything but with the windows up, I hear the little bit of that chatter back there especially on the freeway where it's kind of constant.. Is this something normal with a car like this with summer tires/20 in wheels? It's nothing major. Just wondering if others hear this. Hard to say if I hear behind me as well on the driver side. I don't think I do but would have to be a passenger to really tell and I'm not letting my dog drive the SS yet. Thanks for any feedback. Last edited by cbr1100xx; 04-15-2019 at 08:47 AM. |

I definitely hear all the loose pebbles hitting my under carriage also. Driving my car home through LA freeways last week drove me crazy. Sounded like I was being sand blasted!

Ok, so maybe it’s just normal I guess. Another San Diego SS!

Definitely PPF the area in front of the rear tires.

I have a different sound from mine. When its cold I hear a whistle sound coming from underneath the passenger side.
Love the color! Been extremely happy with mine! |

Maybe the noise is all the rocks hitting the front of the rear quarter panels. There's a reason this is one of the FIRST mods done.

I don't notice the sound....but I'm half deaf....or I just play my music too loudly to hear it....

For me, it's definitely the sound under the car from the tires.
As for the PPF, I 100% agree on. I've had my car less than a week and she gets dropped off tomorrow morning for Xpel installed on the complete front clip, hood, front fenders, rockers up to body line, front and back of rear wheels, a-pillars, and roof strip. Then getting the lifetime Ceramic Coating on entire car as well as wheels and calipers. After reading about the paint chip issues on this sight, I wanted to make sure I got it done asap. |

It's the sticky summer tires. When I have the Goodyear tires on the car, I can hear every loose stone that is being kicked up. When driving with my winter setup with all season tires, I don't hear any loose stones getting kicked up.

I think you're right. My last Mustang GT had very sticky Summer only tires and it made extremely similar sounds from the rear.

They're located off the 94, on the border of La Mesa and Rancho San Diego. They do great work, just got my wifes 2019 Traverse Redline done and it came out great. For the lifetime ceramic / Xpel Ultimate Plus (self healing) package, it's $3100 OTD. They do have different packages that are not as expensive. With the lifetime package, it is married to the vehicle. It's reported to Carfax and will show the vehicle has been Ceramic coated. Might help with resale. |
