It would be good to know the curb weight of the trailer so you know for sure how much payload you can haul. If you are adding tool boxes, winches, and other items they will take away from your overall payload capacity. I didn't see where it listed the trailer's weight. I'm guessing the wood deck would make the trailer a little lighter than the steel deck trailers which may be advantage of the wood deck.

I was told the trailer weighs 2000lbs.

That is stupid money for a wood deck trailer, I paid $2250 for a new 18ft steel deck Lamar with full led lighting and brakes. In a few years that wood will be all wrapped and need replacement, do your self a favor and buy a steel deck.

They absolutely don't "tank" in resale value, at least not around Kansas, used trashed trailers go for the same amount I bought a new one for.

Another option...sure won't be popular, but i had to do it as I drove my car from IL to MI for a race, and broke. Rented a trailer from UHAUL... With a couple quick mods, drover her right on and towed her home. Worked so well, think i will tow to and from next year. Think this would be a good option if one doesn't race a lot and want to drop 5-8K on a used aluminum trailer. Just bought one for my sleds actually so have been shopping...
Rental was $99. Got a 10'ft 2 x 10 and chopped 2 - 18" pieces off. Used one to put under the ramp where is contacts ground. Made the angle better so belly and nose didn't scrape. Put the other piece cross-wise under the remaining length of plank and gave me enough clearance so the splitter didn't contact the front stops. Tire ratchet strap locks her in place. There is also a safety chain near back that i hooked around rear suspension. It's an option...just say'n... |

I dont know if you are familiar with these wheel straps, but they are in a shape of a "Y". With the single point of attachment at the front of the wheel, and the two "legs" on either side of the back side of the wheel. You can only see the front attachment point and one of the rear legs in the picture
