Hood Vent Water Drain Off Plastic Piece
Has anyone removed this? If so, any water damage to the engine? I think the engine/hood vent would look 100 times better without the plastic water run off plastic. I want to remove mine but not sure if I should.

I did but it never sees any rain. When washing the car a little water gets in the engine compartment. I also took the baffle/deflector for the CAI.

I took mine off the day I bought it in 2014 and never put it back on. It's been in rain and car washing. No problem at all. Engine bay still looks as good as new.

I've got the hood vent installed on my car and the only time I run the tray is during the winter. It's my attempt at keeping more heat in the engine bay lol

Mine is off. No water damage but I don't drive in the rain and I wouldn't stress out over it if I did get caught in the rain.
It's been a minute since I've removed it but basically you need to pop the hood, locate the 6 or 7 plastic push pins that hold it in place and remove them along with the tray. |

Simply remove the plastic tabs that hold it on. Note that, when facing the car, 3 or 4 of the tabs (can't remember which) also hold on the cover to the air box. So when you pull those off, you need to re-install them once you take the tray off, to hold that lid in place on the hood. This seals the air box to keep max flow of cool air.
There is a tool for these - but you can remove with needle nose plyers, as long as you are careful you can re-use them. Lets more heat escape, so if going to the track definately something you want to do. |

Already dropped 1 rivet down in the engine to the floor pan!
Use towels to catch any rivets! :( Now I need to jack her up, unscrew floor pan to recover the rivet :( |

Plastic tray out. Looks 1000 times better. The tray was actually kinda heavy.

I took mine out almost immediately along with the plastic coil pack covers and have never put any of them back on. 427 s run hot to begin with and all of those things trap a massive amount of heat. Car runs much cooler without.
