Thumbs down ZL1 BOUNCY RIDE PROBLEM - MR?

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and have had my '14 ZL1 with Hennessey HPE 650 pkg for six months. So far so good !!!

I find myself hating the MR shocks on this car. In Tour mode the rear end feels way too soft and bouncy but the front seems ok. Even in Sport mode the rear feels looser than the front but is measurably stiffer compared to Tour. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix for it?

I've taken the car to the dealer and they basically said if the shocks aren't leaking they won't replace them. "Blow me" is what I was thinking.

So yeah I'm not liking the way this car rides at all and I don't want to drop a bunch more $ into it for things that may or may not make it better.

Anyone else have this issue? If so what did you do to fix?

Your struts are bad. My went bad at about 50,000, no leaks.

Did yours go soft on you? Did you have them replaced under warranty?

I have no issues like you describe, but it sounds like you have one or more bad ones. They aren't known to last long.

Out of warranty at 36,000. Definitely went soft back end would bounce after a bump. After I replaced no bounce. It has happened to several people here even with much less mileage. If you are under the 36,000 I would reattack or go to a different dealer.

Ask to speak to someone with a clue. Cuz that's ignorance, what you ran into there.

Leaking is but one way a shock/strut could go bad. Ask them to open service manual and diagnose it. I assure you nowhere from GM does it say a leak is required for a warranty repair. They made that shit up feeling extra lazy.

Some people are just too ignorant to be in customer service. They even get paid to fix your car, part's mark up and everything... and probably close to $100 an hour labor. And they throw you some BS to see if you'll just go away. I see you're in CA, that explains a lot. The dealer owner probably only gives a rip about his/her import customers.

Walk in next time with the warranty booklet in hand.... show me this leak policy you speak of. My book says defects are covered.

Bast@rds! Yeah I just turned 3k miles on this thing. My HUD went dim and now my A/C panel doesn't work in addition to the shocks. WTF!

Yeah they better be replacing them at that mileage. Ask them if they wouldn't replace your enigine if it blew up unless it was leaking too. Idiots.

You might try checking whatever power connections for the rears, maybe particularly grounds. The way I understand MRC, damping is more or less proportional to the current flowing through the electromagnetic coils inside, so anything that reduces that current (like a bad or intermittent connection) would also reduce the amount of damping. A completely disconnected ground would leave at least the associated shock(s?) with minimal damping that would not increase from 'Tour' to 'Sport'.

Did Hennessey do anything back there as part of their mod?

Let's start with the most basic questions.

1. Has anyone checked to see if there are any codes being thrown?
2. Is your ZL1 lowered?
