My car STINKS!

I don’t eat in my car. I have never spilled a drink. But it smells like mold maybe. Girlfriend says it smells like fart. I told her whoever smelt it dealt it. But seriously any ideas? Cabin air filter maybe?

I have found..
To help prevent / eliminate ...
Use Fresh not Recirc.
Turn A/C off before shutdown.
...that helps to flow air - to dry system.

If you don’t have any success with your new cabin filter, you might consider a local shop that offers this service.

Hey Bruce, you probably should run your A/C more to keep the system working properly. I know I have to use mine all the time especially in the summer and early fall down here in Georgia!

I seem to remember you should run it for about 5 mins once every couple weeks. I do this with mine. Also helps to cut off the AC 5 minutes and turn the fan all the way up before you are going to park it for awhile to dry out the vent system to prevent mold. I do it on my cars and never had an issue with odor but wife won't do it and she complains about an odor in her car.

Change the cabin filter and as others have said turn your AC off a mile or so before you before you get home but keep the blower running. Also watch YouTube videos on how to spray disinfectant in the intake vents at the base of the hood— at the bottom of the windshield. I actually just did that recently and it helped.

WTF?

This reads like a full freaking manual on how to baby your AC if you actually want to use it.

My 2010 Camaro's AC ran perfectly for 10 years with no smell, didn't matter what I did or didn't do- it just worked.. WTF is GM doing to these cars?

Sorry if this reads harsh but this is unacceptable in 2016-2020 cars.

Open your hood, look in each corner near your windshield, make sure there are no tree leaves there, also while you are there, check the rubber flaps in each corner, and pick them up and look inside and make sure its clean. I can take a pic or 2 for you if that doesn't make sense.
