Help deciding - 2018 2SS 1LE

Hey all,

I basically have today to decide on this. Opinions please!
I have talked a dealership down to 41610 plus TTL for a 2018 2SS 1LE. It has around 3000 miles and the original window sticker shows approx 52,000. It has been owned for about a year. It has been babied and has a few small accessories and ceramic coating done.

KBB says its worth around 42 or 43 thousand plus fees so I feel like I am getting a good deal. Problem is it will cost me about 1300 to have it shipped so I am really paying about 43 thousand plus TTL to get it to front door.

If I were to order one just like it today from my local dealer I can get a 2020 spec’d the same for about 49 thousand plus TTL. Is it worth the 6 thousand savings or is the fact that the 20 one is two model years newer and has a few more features?

Thank you!

I'd get the 2020, but that's just me and my .02. Just remember no homelink in the new one because of the rearview camera

If you don't hate the 19s there's some good deals to be had on left overs. I've seen 36k for a 1ss and around 41k for a 2ss I believe.

As much as I like the 18s, if I was paying 40k+ I'd want it to be new so I say go for the 2020.

For that kind of $, I’d buy a 2020. Wait till Nov-Dec... guaranteed they’ll be some decent deals out there. You may also be able to snag a new 19 for a song (Nov-Dec).

The only thing that makes buying the 18 attractive (at least to me) is excise tax and insurance would be lower. Savings ~ $1000

If you know someone with a mustang, and you can work a deal with them to register their car at your residence (temporarily), take a snap shot of your license and their registration, you can get the Conquest rebate of $2000 - $2500..

Yeah I'm sure that's going to happen.....

To OP, sounds like too much for a used '18. I've seen 1LEs 5-7K off MSRP at certain times of the year.

I didn’t know that. I wonder why Chevy didn’t relocate home link to the visor or something.

They have their reasons, whatever that may be Mine's a 1SS/1LE, so homelink never on a 1SS, so don't matter either way, remote on the visor works just fine . If I remember, I think they "said" too much electronics for the rearview camera and couldn't fit the homelink stuff, too tight a fit for everything. The Camry I traded had a rearview mirror that had homelink buttons built into the mirror. So, I think that's a load of rubbish, personally....

FWIW I bought a used 2018 2SS1LE with 600 miles on it for 43k in November of last year. Sticker was 51. I don't think I would bite on the deal unless you're really really wanting the 2018. I would look at a new 2020 2SS1LE or LT1.

If you really want the 2018 then I say go for it but consider when the 2020s come out it will be 2 years old! I would wait for the 2020s myself but it’s up to you to do what’s best for you and your finances. Good luck!

Seems like a fair price for a 2SS 1LE. Id go for it OP, the 16-18 looks better IMO.

I do like the 18 look better also. It’s also a color that I like.

I just got back from driving the 2019 new (white). It’s a fun car!

Get the 2018. They look better and it’s getting hard to find a good 2018 2ss/1le.

The ceramic coating on that 2018 is a plus for me for a couple reasons:
  1. Probably cost $1000 or even more and should last a few years
  2. Someone who spent the extra $$ to ceramic coat it was likely meticulous in the care of the car overall

The 2SS features are definitely nice. When you look at them at first, you might think some of them are just extravagances that you could live without, and that's true. But once you have them, all of them are nice to have. The heated/ventilated seats with memory, heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, extra leather bits, etc. are luxury items that you appreciate once you have them.

The only new features on the 2020 that I wish I had are the rear camera mirror and the new hood. But no regrets at all for me with my 2018 2SS - love it!

How does the financing compare between the new car and the used car?

I'd go for the 2020, I think they look great and you will be able to get one in the color you want. Not to mention the infotainment is a little improved so that is a plus.
