I’m 18 years old I drive 46 miles to work then back home every week day So that’s about 100 miles round trip I bought a 2017 LT 8spd auto 3.6L I wanted an SS with the 6spd butttt, I needed something with good gas mileage, cool and fast all at the same time so I got the car I did personal best I’ve had is 43.3mpg average almost 500 miles out of the tank which is 19 gallons and this was all highway miles mostly level and cruise control I’d say I made a pretty damn good choice and I’m proud of my purchase especially at my age because I didn’t use mommy and daddy’s money I work for this car myself, I just needed them for a co-signer

You made a great choice in a car- from my experience in driving and owning so many cars over the course of my life time. My current V6 Camaro is on my top 10 list. I am at the opposite end of the spectrum- 61 years old- still love fast and sporty cars but need gas mileage, no payments so I can save for retirement. So I have a V6 too with M6. I don't think too many people realize the beauty of the V6 in the Camaro and the outstanding gas mileage it gets- sometimes like an economy car- AND it's one of the few, or THE only performance car with an engine that runs on regular gas (87). I think the V6 even betters the turbo 4 and the turbo 4 requires premium so overall fuel cost will be lower with the V6. My V6 Camaro bests my other car- both in performance and gas mileage- 18 VW GTI with a 4 banger.

2017 2SS A8 Stock
On a recent road 1,600 mile road trip we averaged over 27 which included interstates, US highways and some juicy twisty mountain roads.
On the 560 mile ride home we averaged over 29 almost entirely on the interstate. Not bad for a 455 HP car.

I like to reset my MPG at the start of an HPDE day.

My record avg for the day was 5.4 mpg.

That's like 1/2 gallon a lap

Haha 5.4 is terrible, I've been a little more spirited in driving recently. I'm averaging about 14.2 lately. Hard to stay off the gas pedal

1SS daily driver. 17mpg average but that's wide open on the way into work, and stop and go all the way home - about 22 miles a day in the Tyson's/DC area. Best I ever got on the 50 mile average counter was 31. Usually can putt around in the high 20s on highway trips.

If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it. The corollary to that axiom is when you buy a performance V8 vehicle, you do not quibble about MPG. With E85, my SS is getting about 8 gallons to the mile

Last time I filled up the ZLE, it estimated I'd have 68 miles of range on that tank.

At least with E85 it's cheap and not so bad as 93. E85 is down to almost $2.00 a gallon in my area right now while premium is (93) is $3.20 or so. And I am lucky that the station that has it is practically next door to my house.

If they made an SS (Stock) that would be flex fuel and run on E85 it just might sway me to buy a new SS. My GF's 2013 Silverado with 4.8 is flex fuel and she runs E85 and saves a lot on fill ups versus even 87 octane. And she gets only 17 MPG.
