Traded in my 1LE.

Some of you may care, some may not. I traded my car in last night. It had 6759 miles on it upon trade in. It was a 2018 1SS 1LE w/o PDR and I got $35k for trade in value towards a 2019 Corvette Z06 3LZ. I walked away with paying $67k out the door with my equity and no down payment.

The 1LE has been an amazing ownership experience but, I realized that I just didn't have the same mindset as many Camaro owners and the general public when it came to this car. It led to a lot of explanations, frustrations and fending off bro's. While I've noticed that there's certainly some elitism on the Corvette side of the fence, I do find that many of them are much more open minded to different approaches to builds and philosophies. I won't go so far as to say that it was my driving force in the trade but, I did want something different and I'm getting to that age where I wanted to experience Corvette ownership first hand.

So, after wrestling with the thought for almost a year, I finally pulled the trigger on the car. I think I would have preferred owning a Grand Sport beforehand as I'm not someone who chases horsepower numbers from the factory but since I already owned two cars with a LT1, I wanted to give the LT4 a try.

nice looking car.i test drove an older(2004) vette before buying my camaro but i liked the idea of a 4 seater for hauling grandkids every once in a while, plus my camaro was under CPO warranty.

Honestly I have no idea what my payments are like on either vehicle. Much like the Camaro, I’ll likely pay in chunks instead of just paying whatever the actual payment is. I bought the 1LE in February of last year. I made a couple of payments for $5k and then one payment for $22k. That kept my payments at bay during the time I owned it. I hadn’t made a payment in several months. I don’t have any real plans to modify the Z06 as I did with my Camaro but, I will do full paint correction, XPEL and some new wheels/tires.

Beautiful car!! Funny to see your post. I am in the exact same place as you, and feel the exact same. It is just time for something different, and its why I haven't pulled a trigger on a 6th Gen 1LE, even though it is such an awesome car.

If they dont end up offering the C8 in a manual, and I doubt they will, I will just be a few years behind you with an M7 Z06.

Hope you love the car, looks great!

Not sure I get the mindset comments and concerns, but I guess I don't involve myself with such things - whatever I think about it is all I care about! And I get a lot of positive comments from all kinds of people on my 6th gen - randomly wherever I go it seems. Not that I am looking for such accolades mind you.

I've owned 4 vette's and 5 Camaro's, 2 Porsches, a buttload of BMW's, a CTSV, etc.
Enjoyed them all very much but I do think the 6th gen Camaro is one of my all time favorites out of 50+ odd cars I've owned. And I have a 71 Camaro pro-touring build to go with my 6th gen which is a convertible model.

Anyway - C7 Z06 is an amazing car too - I'm sure you will enjoy the heck out of it!

What’s there to explain? You had the standard Bolton recipe?

There wasn’t anything against the grain there?

You should have given the LT4 in the ZL1 a try but I understand your wanting to get a new C7 ZO6 Corvette. It’s the last of the front engine design which a lot of people prefer including me but I can’t afford a Corvette and need more room too! Did you get an auto or manual trans in the ZO6? Anyway, enjoy your new C7 and congratulations!

There was a lot to explain to folks who didn’t understand the car and my decision for getting it. An uncomfortable number of bros would ask me about its 0-60 and 1/4 miles. When I would start bringing up its handling and it’s composure instead, it was met with confusion and frustration on both our parts. Beyond that, a few exchanges I had on here when it came to how much power a car has stock versus the perceived competition also drove me nuts.

In the end, it was a bit of a wake up call, I suppose. As much as I loved my 1LE, it was starting to get apparent to me that I was forcing myself into a subgroup that I didn’t want to be a part of. I find less of that in this new community, at this rate however.

As for the others who have commented, I didn’t want to get a ZL1 as I was generally unimpressed with the car and it would have been my 3rd 6th Gen. Also, almost every decent Z06 with a manual transmission was taken within 500-700 miles from my location; my reasonable distance to travel to get the car. The manuals that were left were either an appalling color combination, high mileage, low trim levels or the dealership was unwilling to negotiate on either my trade or the Z06. Ultimately me ending up with a ‘19 Z06 3LZ A8 isn’t the worst thing in the world, considering how much I got it for.

Well it’s a good time to get into a c7. Can’t argue that

Still baffled. Explain to who ? Your friends? Mine are mostly not car guys and just go ohh that’s sweet lookin. Anyway I can’t say I’ve ever let other people’s opinion sway what car I happen to like and own. But to each his own I guess.
