Cammed gen6 SS keeps throwing CELs

My car is cam/heads/intake, E85, full bolt ons. The cam, heads, and ported MSD was put on the car back in April and the car was returned.

I went through a couple tanks of gas (450-550 miles) and then the car threw a CEL. There was no sounds, no difference in how the car ran, so I reset the code by disconnecting the battery for 15min. I drove the car again and after about 20-30 minutes of driving it threw a CEL again. Again there was no sounds or difference in how it ran so I reset it again. This last time it didn’t go off after two short 5-10 minute trips, but then did throw a CEL again when I drove it for 15-20 minutes. Again, no sounds or difference in how it runs. I don’t have a code reader but I guess I’m going to have to bring it to a shop to get it read.

I’ve heard that cammed cars can tend to throw CELs, has anyone else experienced this?

Love it -- resetting code (ecu) without checking it.

What code be wrong.

I’m not at all asking what could be wrong. I’ve been told that cammed cars can frequently throw codes. I was asking if this was other’s experience.

Reading comprehension is vital.

I think AutoZone will read the code for you free. At least they used to.

That is the biggest depends question possible. How was it tuned, what’s the code, how big is the cam. Just to start

Unless we know the code, we can’t answer the question.

I think spending that much money on mods justifies an extra $50 for a code reader!
Interested to hear what code(s) it threw.

All work and dyno tune was performed by a reputable, somewhat local LS/LTX performance shop. The cam is their stg 2.5 grind 228/242 .635”, I believe 115+2 LSA. I’ve set it up to have a friend who owns a local mechanic shop to scan the code tomorrow morning. I’ve also been in contact with the shop who performed the work and tuned the car. I’ll be forwarding the code to them in the morning.

That would be my suggestion to get back with the shop that did the work for you!

I got the code read this morning. It’s a P0121 TPS circuit/sensor issue, possibly having voltage issue. I’ve sent the info to my tuner.

A properly tuned heads/cam car shouldn't throw CEL's so whoever you heard that from is wrong.
