Tire Savers during storage

This is directed more at those of us living in the northern climates....

Will have to store the car during the winter months up here and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these?

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/par...ck-/1001089577

I know that after not driving my cars for some time, the tires sometimes get a little flat spot so I can very well imagine what months of storage will to to tires on a 1LE.

I don't have those but use a similar style. They're a must if storing your vehicle for any length of time and will prevent flat spots.

I know some people just jack up the car and rotate the tire a quarter turn once a month. For big 4x4 tires, they flat spot over night.

What I do is jack her up and put jack stands at the designated jack points. Then, wheels/tires come off and get put indoors somewhere for the winter time. This year, I picked up a quickjack, so I'll be using that in place of the jack stands. Either way, good to go! Hope this helps..

It is generally accepted when storing for long periods it is better to have the wheels on the ground rather than having the suspension dangling.

Never had flat spot from being parked that didn't undo itself within few hundred feet of driving.. $400 for contoured ramps.. I guess that's a thing.

I couldn't agree with you more. That's why, as I said, I take the wheels off and store them indoors during the winter. Nothing hanging from the suspension that way

Same here. The tires lost a few psi over the winter but no flat spots in the spring. This year I added a Battery Tender Jr. since the car is a few years old and it was a colder winter than past years.

Last 6 cars stored 4-5 months due to winter weather, and salty road conditions here. Never used any thing like this, and never had an issue.

Attach battery tender, and walk away.

I have no reason do disbelieve any of the posters here, but make no mistake: flat spots is a real thing...not smoke and mirrors. For those of us that store our vehicles for four or five months, a $200-$400 one time investment is cheap insurance for a set of $2k or $4k tires.

...and the savers can be used again, again and again.

Stored my car outside under a car cover. Didn't drive it for 5 months. No flat spot at all.
