New here
I posted an intro yesterday but I can't find it.
Anyway, I bought a new 2018 ZL1 convertible A10 last May. For those of you who are wondering if this is the right decision; it is indeed on both accounts, ZL1 and vert! I have 800 miles, and drove only about 10 with the top up. I test drove a Hellcat and considered a factory certified Z06, a Carrera S, and a 2LT vette. The ZL1 does it all, and as a long time avid motorcycle rider (I have 6 currently), the convertible is the best of all worlds...in my opinion, coming from a Florida person. I guess if I lived in Michigan, I might think differently about the vert angle. Although it is hot here right now, border line too hot for an opened car...or a bike. This is a WE car. My daily driver is 2017 Titan SV. I can only say that the A10 is Einstein compared to the Forrest Gump transmission of the Nissan. The A10 is always, always in the right gear, no so much so for the other one. No oil consumption so far. My breaking in is conservative but not too much. A few 4000 rpm runs and one at 5000, so far, but vigorous accelerations to 3000 rpm quite often. No idling or city driving, or almost none. Avg gas mileage, a tad over 19. 3 digits speed once with the top down in all comfort. The seat was bit bothersome on the thighs at first (6'2 frame) but it is now broken in and comfortable. The seat goes back far enough for a person my height. Other peeves: well the creepy OnStar which I have not subscribed too, and a weird suspension reaction once when crossing a road with 4 crowns while turning. The car sort of bounced around very quickly with a lot of noise. I think the computer got confused. The Viz with the top up is not great. Mods: lift points, keyed lug nuts. The can is on my radar but the warranty worries me. It has plenty of power for the time being. Besides one of my bikes can provide an even better straight line fix if needed but I am getting too old for that. As far as the convertible angle, it sorta of grew on me a little at a time. I went to the lot planning to test drive a coupe A10 but instead I did the vert, and there was no going back after that. I hope this post will go through. Thank you all for all the good posts. Many of you helped me making the final decision. |
