Front License Plate Bracket

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the dealership to NOT install the front license plate bracket even if it's "technically" required by law?

I'm in Ontario and I really don't want to muck the front of the car with a front plate if I can avoid it... I have a friend who keeps his license plate on the dashboard with no problems lol

Thoughts?

Hmm, didn't even think of this until now but because the car was ordered in Ontario they put the front mounting package on the order... is that something they do in the factory or is it dealer installed... hmmmm

Dealer installed.
I do not know the answer to that.
I can see that the dealer is required to have it road legal before it leaves the dealership....??

It could depend on the dealership as well, you could tell them you have something custom being made and to leave it off.

I think it looks fine.

Try something like this. It is what I intend to do. Good Luck.

Depends on the dealership, I did it with my 5th Gen Camaro, no problem...some may require you to sign a waiver that frees the dealership from any legal matters.

I told my dealership I didn't want the front license plate bracket installed when I ordered the car. They told me it was not problem. I'm in Ohio so don't know if Canada is different. I guess it depends on the dealership if they are willing to work with you.

I specified that the front bracket NOT be installed by the dealer on my CTS-V when it arrived since holes would be punched in the front fascia. No problem whatsoever...
I drove around for 6 years in my 4th Gen SS with no hassles - and then I got 3 tickets in 18 months!
I now have the plate in the bracket which is attached to the lower grille mesh with zip ties!

Best regards,

Elie

I'm in Ontario and none of my cars have had the front license plate bracket mounted since I have always requested it not to be. If you tell your dealership it should be no problem.

For the Camaro I will probably be buying the Sto n Sho from Phastek

we have temp plates in the US, so the car doesnt have a front plate to leave the dealer with.

I didn't ask my dealer but they didn't install it anyway. Just put it in the trunk. I'm still running the temp tag but that's up in a couple of days. I haven't looked at the bracket yet, not sure what I'll do honestly.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll see what the dealership says... if I can avoid it, I'd rather not put holes in the bumper... they need to repeal front plates already, so stupid!

I'm in Ontario asked the dealer not to install it he said not a problem! I also emailed it to have it in writing also. Going to do a sto and go or the jac fab one if it releases easily just because it's bent to the bumper for a different look.

The plate holder on the 6th Gens don't attach to the bumper, they actually attach to the top part of the lower grille frame, so it never touches paint.

Oh shnap I didn't realize they were essentially clipped on... Interesting... Might not be too big a deal then...

Thanks for the photos Frank!
