I traded a mint, well maintained SS at 9k miles (for a Z). Take a good look at the car and whatever records you can get your hands on. These cars are pretty stout. I’d look for telltale signs of being beaten- IE. tires being changed before typically due, rubber in rear wheel wells etc.

The good news is that there are certain things that have to be right before the car even qualifies for CPO. The history has to be clean, it cannot be a buy back or lemon.

There is a manufacturer protocol checklist that must be carried out. A dealer may or may not be honest about doing that, however, if they are not and have issues because of it, they pay dearly to GM for it. The CPO program is a big deal.

Sure, some of these cars may have been driven hard at times, but 99% of them no different than any of us drive ours.

A CPO is a good bet for saving some money. Anyone uncomfortable with it can always pony up and buy one fresh off the truck.

Not really a CPO comment, yet I have a 2018 2SS that has about 5500 miles on it. It's a garage queen and I only drive it in the summer. It's not the daily driver and I also ride a motorcycle, so that competes with my free time. I'm not selling anytime soon, but I could easily see 2500 miles or less a year and I'll keep it for a good while. Yeah, I guess it's a garage queen...

i bought my 16 used in Dec of 16 with 5000 miles on it. Service manager at dealership commuted back and forth to work with it.......total fuel used screen had logged every gallon of fuel and the matching average fuel economy was reading almost 22mpg so i knew he hadn't been dogging the car out by a long shot. Since then i've only managed to add 9000 miles on it...but they have all been fun miles on fun roads/track.. i dont drive it in the winter unless its above 45 degrees ( Love NC) the occasional track day and the fact i have 3 other vehicles and 3 motorcycles have kept the miles low.

I bought a 2016 2SS Convertible in November 2019 from a dealer in Fayetteville, NC. I live in Jacksonville, FL. It had 33,400 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 39,700 miles on it. Once on the road back to Jax it was clear the Sirius XM was not working. Called original dealer and they suggested going to local Chevy dealer. They told me it should be covered under the CPO "12 month bumper to bumper warranty" that came with the car(and paid extra for). SURPRISE, local Chevy dealer said it was a bad antenna but it was not covered under the CPO warranty charged me $89 to diagnose!! I called the original dealer and they agreed to reimburse me for my costs and replacement of antenna. My top hinge covers (the ones that are supposed to close automatically when the top is put down) don't work. Took it to another local dealer and BINGO, the CPO warranty does not cover it. I have asked three dealers for copies of the GM CPO warranty and what it covers. Their response is, " uhh... hmmm..... uh... I don't know what is covered under the CPO warranty." The original dealer finally agreed to send me a copy of the CPO warranty booklet. He gave me a CPO warranty hot line number and I called them. They took down my information and the dealer's name, gave
me a case # and said a service agent would call me. BTW, dealer told me that they have replaced several of these and they are prone to failure. I LOVE my 2SS but not the service I have received so far. BTW, I had two fourth gen convertibles and had ZERO problems with the top or mechanisms. Anyone else having issues with the CPO warranty or top hinge covers?

I probably wouldn't buy a rental either, but an SS is made to withstand abuse. These cars put up with more during a track day than a rental driver could put them through.

If it hasn’t physically been wrecked a low mile unit will be fine. These cars are way more tougher than the internet makes them out to be.

In addition to all of the above stated. When you do a physical inspection; take a flashlight and see how worn the brake pedal pad is. That will shed a little light on how the car was driven. When I traded in my Gen 5 SS M6 and Gen 6 SS M6- both were cream puffs with low milage and garaged. A great find for whoever purchased them.

Heard from Chevrolet CPO customer service today. Hinge lid defect on my 2SS Camaro convertible is not covered by the CPO warranty. She gave no explanation why. Simply said that the bumper to bumper CPO warranty would not cover it. Asked her if my tranny failed within the 12 month 12,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty would they cover it. She said Chevrolet reviews and approves all CPO warranty claims. So, the Chevrolet CPO warranty has less substance than a Fly Fart. Buyer Beware. I have owned two corvettes, three camaros, a 37 Chevy business coupe with a 355 SBC, a 34 Ford roadster with a SBC, a 41 Ford Sedan with a blown 385 Chevy stroker and am finishing up a SBC powered 56 big window pickup. Never thought I would say this, but I hear the Blue Oval calling. Anyone want a beautiful Red '2016 SS Camaro convertible. I will even fix the pillar covers for you.

Any car that isn’t brand new with no miles you are taking these chances of how it was driven and in the end you have no idea and only can guess one way or another depending on overall condition of the car, check the car over well and yeah check for rubber in the wheel wells might help a little.

I know you can do it on BMWs, but I’m not sure about Chevrolet. See if you can have them connect to the computer and get a rpm run history. It shows exactly what RPMs the car has Benn used, grouped in 1000’s.

Got a 2017 2SS with 7800 miles 15 months ago from a Ford dealership of all places, complete with included 150000 drive train warranty that kicks in after the factory one expires. Sales guy told me it was a customer who left Ford for a while and came back and traded it in on a Raptor. If it was beaten on, it doesn't seem to care, strong strong...
