I had deltran for years and although I have had to replace one, they work well when working, still using it on the TBSS.

My preference nowadays are the CTEK units, mounted underhood, just hardwire it and plug it in. Even got one for the V...

You should connect under the hood. Positive to the post under there red cap and ground to the grounding post in the left front corner of the engine compartment.

Have used the Genius G750 for sometime on my stuff auto's, atv's, skidsteer, has a connection so you can unplug the cord and leave the connection to the battery The one thing to make sure what ever brand that it has a inline fuse. Awhile back I plugged in one that didn't, shorted and the wire went like a dynamite fuse, glad I was there to stop it.

Without a doubt the best battery maintainer brand for the money is Battery Minder. I use models 2012 or 1510. They have been outstanding for my cars. What makes them different is temperature compensation and desulfacation, two VERY important elements that most chargers do not do. It took me a long time to finally understand battery chargers. I have used them for years but still had issues. After spending a whole afternoon learning about battery chargers I then bought Battery Minders, I have not had an issue with any of my cars since then, which was 4 years ago.

I have a 1996 Impala SS that I only drive very occasionally, I believe its time I invested in a battery tender. I would like to find one that I can purchase extra permanent terminal mounts in case I wanted to switch to one of my 3 vehicles.

[QUOTE=Rock-It Man;10388910

There are a number of modern battery tenders to choose from, so I would use "you get what you pay for" as your guide.[/QUOTE]

I agree. This is so true with almost everything made nowadays.
I question why you would want to start it at all?
Let it sit until spring. Starting it and letting it run doesn't get the motor got enough to burn off deposits and that's bad in the long run IMO.
Unless you actually drive it I would let it sit with the tender.
Anyone agree?

You can get extra quick release connectors for the Deltran Battery Tenders from Amazon and other sources.

Agree. I never start the car during storage. It's impossible to get the exhaust hot enough to evaporate all the water that condenses while idling. Hook up the battery tender and forget about it until Spring.

Here are the positive and negative posts. Perhaps your negative post was removed to make room for the CAI?

After registering the wife's RAV4 I decided to stop at AutoZone and look at the battery tenders. I settled on a NOCO Genius G1100, out the door for $43.22. Had to ream the two eyelets out a tad so they would fit over the battery lug. Wanted to permantely install the wires to the battery, this allows me to quick disconnect when I do take the girl out for a ride.

This setup went onto my 96 Impala SS. After plug in the tender checked the battery, after a few minutes it read 100% charge and had a flashing green light indicating it was topping the battery off. After about 30 minutes the green light went solid green.

Thank God no more disconnecting the battery, charging the battery, resetting the clock and wondering if she would start!

Again I thank my Forum friends for bringing this to my attention.

Will a Battery Tender work utilizing the Cigar Lighter outlet inside the car?
