IS THE ORIGINAL OIL FROM THE FACTORY ANY DIFFERENT?

Hello.
I am just curious and wondering abt this...
Some members say the oil from the factory has a special formula to
protect the engine in the break in process.
Others tell it is the regular indicated oil.
What do you think?
By the way, the book does not say to perform the first oil change early...

The oil from the factory is nothing special, just regular oil at the spec GM calls for the vehicle to use during its normal service time frame.

no it's that magical break-in oil and it has to be drained at 1500 and not a mile over or your stuff implodes.

in all seriousness, "break in oil" is a thing of the past. Ring seal is achieved at the factory and there is nothing you can do to change it after the fact. GM does recommend a variety of early fluid changes if you track the car or it experiences "severe use". A lot of people will change the factory oil early, within a few thousand miles. It's probably unnecessary but we all do it. Heck, I changed my rear diff fluid, manual tranny fluid, and oil all in one day at 5000 miles, just because I had it up on jacks, and I drive my car hard. Switched out to redline ATF in my tremec 3160, shifting performance improved noticeably. The rear diff fluid was full of metal sludge. I did my first oil change at 2500 miles and it needed it. I would say a 500 mile oil change is completely unnecessary, but a 2000-3000 miles oil change is quite appropriate if you did a hard break in.

GM is confusing me again. Full synth or blend? The acdelco site says FULL but then their description says BLEND. Ugh!

DEXOS1 FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL

ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil is specifically designed for GM vehicles. Engineered to optimize engine cleanliness, engine performance and fuel efficiency, ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend Motor Oils are composed of high-quality synthetic base stocks and exceptional additive technology.
