Where did you get this skin from?

OP, you can get yours warrantied for excessive wear if you're still in Bumper-to-Bumper.
I assumed the wheel would be considered a wear and tear item, therefore NOT covered under warranty?

Anyone else been able to replace their wheel under warranty when the alcanatra gets tired?

I could see them replacing the wheel for excessive material wear, like a hole or tear, or stitching failure, but not so sure about how the alcantara looks when dirty, if that "glazed" look would get you a new wheel.

Man, I must really be in the minority on this one. I absolutely love the look and feel of Alcantara. I don’t find it to be slippery or a strange sensation on my skin. However, I also have really dry hands and my Alcantara components still look and feel brand new. I personally feel that GM didn’t use enough Alcantara throughout the interior and I’d like to expand upon its application when I get the chance.

I did the knee bolsters, and plan on doing the passenger side dash panel.

I love the feel of it as well but mine has gotten matted and sticky after 13000 miles.

I want to do the Knee bolsters but not having contrast stitching bugs me.

I like the look and feel of alcantera, but I can see it getting absolutely filthy. I'll be switching to leather at some point, just do I don't have to worry so much.

Leather gets nasty too. It's really a matter of cleaning it correctly. A wet microfiber works great on both leather and microsuede (our cars don't have Alcantara).

I like my micro suede(or whatever GM calls it) in my 2017 ZL1. I know I will have to clean it eventually as I would have had to clean my 2SS steering wheel too. The shift knob in the Z is okay for now(3500 miles) but will need to be cleaned too.

Numbers from actual parts, inside the steering wheel:
2016 SS black w/grey stitch, automatic, w/heat: 23379943
2016 SS black w/grey stitch, manual, w/heat: 23379939
2016 SS black w/grey stitch, ?, w/o heat: 84209541
2017 Non-SS/Up level w/grey stitch, no paddle, w/heat (like SS, but no paddle/levers): 23379914
2017 SS black w/grey stitch, automatic, w/heat: 84097154
2017 SS black w/grey stitch, automatic, w/o heat: 84209531
2017 SS black w/grey stitch, manual, w/o heat: 84097192

Ultimately, the paddle type doesn't matter. Whether they are the automatic "+ and -" or the "rev match" ones, they will operate the same. If anything, you can swap over the stuff from the 1LE wheel. As for the heated vs. non-heater wheels, I think you can just swap over the controls from a non-heated wheel and it will work fine.

Please forgive me if this has already been posted, but Sonax makes the best product to clean the steering wheel IMO.

I have completely restored the wheel just with some proper application of this. Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the bottle.

My wheel was matted and even looked like shiny leather in some spots and this brought it back to like it was when I first brought it home!
