Hey guys, I know this thread has been dead for awhile, like my stock LT4 lol, but I would like to solicit the group on a similar question. I am running a Maggie 2650, ported and polished heads, 850rwhp, and recently threw a rod in the stock bottom end. Vengeance Racing built the car and we discovered the Kooks Green cats failed which caused the failure. I am going with an LME replacement but on the fence of whether to stay with 377/388 or move to a 416ci or 427ci. My power goals are 1k wheel and I'll probably stop there (I say that now...) but I also want reliability b\c I do daily it from time to time. The upgraded internals on the 427 are appealing but might be overkill for what I want to do, but I am leaning towards the 416 b\c I know people that are running them in their CTS-V3's and have had great luck. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you.

The 2650 really doesn't need all those Cubes. I'd stay with a 377, Jason Leiva has a Vengeance build and he has a 427 2650 Maggie. He just went 8.37@about 170, I just think for a street/strip car the 377 is a better choices.

Agreed, last thing a PD blower needs is more stroke, so I’d would pass on a 416 for sure. A 427 is awesome if you want to shoot for >1100 WHP but will take big dollars to feed it: 112mm TB, big fuel system, great cylinder heads, etc.

First thing I would do on the next build is make sure to never use green cats again. GESI gen 2 or catless.

Totally agree with that, no aftermarket cat is safe with a blower. I found that out.

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback.

I talked to the guys at LME and they said for my current power goals of 1k to go with the 390 sleeveless, which with their bottom end would hold 1400. But the same time if I wanted to plan for more legroom go with the 427. I already have the larger throttle body, DSX lowside, LME ported and polished heads w\ upgraded components. I will be adding the larger injectors and LPE Big Bore pump which should provide enough sauce to get back to E-85 and add some more boost. Their piston design will allow room for a bigger cam which I was limited in the current build.

I will never run cats again, I don't care if I have to make it a trailer car, it's not worth the risk or expense to keep the DMV inspectors happy.

Agree on the 390, on no running cats. Great choices. Roll with it.

Actually been off the site for a while but to update I actually ended up selling the LT4 blower and getting a whipple before the car was even done.
