SO. MUCH. WIN.

Better have a six speed, LSD with or without AWD and available with the hatchback!

It would be nice to see the 2.0T in it (hatch and sedan).

I hope they do put that engine in the Cruze. Could make it a performance steal.

I agree, but I don't think it will happen. 4 banger Camaro sales would probaby suffer.

If they do that to protect the Camaro, and engage in the same ol' GM "protect XYZ model" bullcrap..then they're fools and I hope that it bites them squarely on the ass.

Ford didn't shy away from producing the Focus RS that handily beats the crap out of the EB Mustang and costs as much as a GT Mustang.

Post Good question.

Does the Chevrolet Cruze Out-Civic the Civic?

I doubt not making a niche hatchback is going to impact GM in any way shape or form.

I wouldn't be bothered by a Cruze that outperforms the base Camaro, either.

Maybe they could get the 1.6L turbo that the Cascada is using. A person will not see much in the way of performance in that engine in that portly vert. It might have a life in a Cruze.

Same here.

I think the Cruze and Camaro are sufficiently different that they wouldn't influence each other's sales.

Yeah it's completely different segments for both cars. Sure it might take away some sales from either if they are priced similarly but I don't think many will cross shop a RWD sports/muscle car with a hot hatch. But I could be wrong, they should still do it though.

Only thing I'm worried about is the use of direct injection and intake valves getting carbon build up on them. Needs some form of port injection as well

The PI/DI hybrid system that the Ford GT (the new Raptor too, I think) and the FRS-BRZ uses seems pretty slick and eliminates most, if not all, of the coking issues.

Yeah the Toyota system is a good way to go as it helps keep the valves clean, and if you want to upgrade the motor with a turbo kit or supercharger and need more fuel all you do is change the port injectors. Seems like the best solution for direct injection at the moment to avoid carbon build up
