The LFX and LGX have been good motors for the most part. I haven't heard of any LGX engines dying on this forum, and as for the Colorado/Canyon forums, the LFX seems to be doing mostly well also. The LLT before the LFX had more issues for sure. I've had two of the 3.6 V6 engines with good luck, and enjoyed the performance.

Most of my thoughts on the 3.6L come from JerTM as he has posted quite often about the failures it suffers. Far too often for me to ever want one.

And if I remember correctly, you favour personal anecdotes over statistics, right?

Anecdotes of one owner hold little water for me. But after years of fixing them, I am pretty jaded towards the 3.6L. Neat on paper, not very well executed.

He’s a GM tech, not one owner. Nice try but, wrong. Again.

If you trust statistics instead over anecdotes, thats fine by me. But I remember getting into a discussion with someone on the forum quite a while ago about reliability stories vs stats. I think it was in reference to pickup trucks in particular. Now, I was pretty sure it was you (and the post I quoted lead credibility to that idea), but if it wasn't you then it wasn't you.

I'm not 'trying' anything. I wasn't absolutely positive beyond any shadow of a doubt that it was you. Hence 'If I remember correctly ... ' at the beginning of my post, then asking you to confirm at the end. Turns out, my self doubt was justified. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Its no big deal either way.

No problem DG. I’m not trying to start anything. I was in thought over my comment about Detroit you refuted and I backed up with a statistical reply. I don’t recall anything about pick-up trucks.

I don't fix these these things for a living. But I was a V6 enthusiast when the LLT 3.6 was in everything GM made. That engine had problems with many of them. Timing chains, oil consumption, etc. The LFX changed that for sure for the better, although I'm sure it had a few bad apples. I remember a couple. I don't follow the LGX as close now that I'm an SS owner, but I do own a Colorado with the 3.6. Havent heard of any of them puking oil yet.

Ok, time to stop kicking this head horse.

I'd be happy with the LTG in a Cruze SS

I keep reading 'CT5' as 'CTS'. I can only imagine how hard it will be to convince the general public that the CT5 is a thing & the CTS isn't.
