You and me both... Memphis on average stays around 30s low 40s during the winter and we’re currently 1°. Too cold for a southern boy...LOL.
And getting hit with a snow storm which we normally don’t see

& there’s a big difference between 0* & -30*. It literally takes seconds before your nose has ice cycles forming if you don’t have face protection. Even then a baclava will be iced up around your mouth & nose in less than 10 minutes.

I’ll take the garbage out quick with a T-shirt & lounge shorts on, maybe even bare foot if I hustle at 0. I’m putting on pants, a sweater & step into my boots below -25.

In central Texas, near Austin, we hit 6 degrees last night, along with about 8 inches of snow. This on top of an ice storm last Thursday. Rare stuff for Texas.
