New rear bumper estimate

Anyone know how much it's going to cost to replace my rear bumper on a 17 ZL1? Some idiot hit me in the parking lot tonight and of course didn't wait around to tell me. This is the world we live in now...

Do you have pics? Could be a pretty easy fix.

It's more than paint. There is gashed. Like a tow hook hit it from a truck. But maybe you are right, I'll be honest I know nothing about this kinda thing. The picture I took doesn't really show the raised plastic. I guess I'll just bring it somewhere and get an estimate. I'm more pissed about how someone could do this rather than the cost to repair.

Did you report it to your insurance company or get a police report done? You can report it to your insurance and a claims adjuster will look at it and give you an idea how much damage estimate would be.

I suspect the damage just by your description would probably be at least $2500! No expert though.

Rear bumper cover replacement on my wife’s Ford Edge was 1500$ not including the rental. I know it’s not the same vehicle but should be same ballpark. She was also hit in a parking lot and the person ran from the accident. Luckily someone watched it happen, took pictures and left her a note to contact her for them and a witness if needed. After the police talked to the witness and got the pictures they charged him with misdemeanor hit and run and his insurance paid for the damages / rental.

For our cars it will probably make more sense to pay for it to be repaired and leave the insurance out of it to hopefully keep the title clean.

450 for the part, 300 for labor, plus about 250 for paint no blend or blended 800.00 that's if you can reuse all the parts and no broken clips. Basically a fascia and reuse parts.

Just for reference, I was rear ended at a stop light. Low speed, idiot was stopped and decided to just hit the gas behind me. He also didn't have insurance but luckily because I got his license and plate my deductable was waived. Didn't replace bumper, just fixed and painted. Came out pretty clean but quote was right around $2500. You're very right, this is the world we live in, recently noticed a nice little crease in my driver front fender. I usually back into spots and someone backed right into, also no note. Good luck with the work

Well, a brand new bumper from GMpartsdirect is $450. Painting a rear bumper to match cant cost more than $500, so a new painted bumper seems the better route and I think he was more eluding to the cost they quoted you as being high.
