Next Mod?
I looking for ideas for my next mod. I currently have the Lingenfelter 720hp(which includes the 9.1 pulley)package along with 2” kooks headers and a rotofab cold air intake. I have no cats on my car with stock mid pipes and stock exhaust. I had a custom Dyno tune done along with the TCM tuned as well. My car made 642RWHP/735RWTQ on the Dynocom Dyno. I am wanting to get another 50-100RWHP. I am not looking to tear the motor apart to achieve this. Trying to find the best bang for the buck with my set up that is safe. Here are my thoughts. Please add your input or any other ideas.
-E85? What’s involved to go this route? how much more power? -Ported TB? How much more Power -Ported Stock Blower? How much more power -Meth? What’s involved in this? How much more power? Safe? -Cam? What’s involved in this? More Fuel? How much more power? -Full cat back? How much more power See attached current Dyno sheet Last edited by NICKEL1810; 05-19-2020 at 06:27 PM. |

I assume you have done a pulley?
E85. Get a flex fuel kit, which is easy to install. It will let you run E30-E50. Only downside is you need to mix gas

Yes I have the 9.1 lower pulley. Would I have to get it retuned if I go this route? Also what kind of gains would I get? What is the best way to mix the gas to ensure you are getting the right amount? Thanks

Problem with E is it eats away at what you have for fuel volume. You could probably run E30 or so at your HP level, which is still worth it IMO. Add that, at least a 95mm TB, and a ported blower for some easy HP. Probably 50-60 HP between those.

Go for meth. You got the pulley which you have to pull timing. A 50/50 mix meth kit will let you get some of that timing back in a tune and boost the octane. Cooling your IAT. That would probably cost almost 2k with the install and tune

Ported blower and 103TB or at least a ported 95mm will make about 40RWHP.
Meth will add on the light side about 30RWHP. Cam about 50RWHP. Catback about 0-2RWHP. Not worth it to me at all. (If you have headers all ready and then add catback, it’s going to be loud. For reference, I have full boltons: cam, meth, headers, BIG gulp, 103TB, ported stock SC, and made 780whp on a mustang dyno. Personally, I probably could have made 720whp and would have been happy. I just didn’t know all these parts would make that much power. Car is crazy fast. |

I'd stay away from meth. modules go bad, pumps go bad, nozzles clog and if it leaks, you have a serious fire.
if you did go with meth, don't use the washer tank as your meth tank. I'd vote for e85, good safe power and it will run cooler.

I would add Tony Mamo's Version 2 Ported Throttle Body. Best mod for the $$. You will make a nice dent in your power gain goal for under $400 and make your car more drive-able.

I believe you shouldn’t have fuel issues until you are at about 700whp. With what you currently have plus adding the ported SC and 103TB I think you’ll be fine and right about 680-690 whp. You can get a low side pump booster to help with fuel as well. These are a little under $500. I’ll be doing that soon. It’s not needed at this time but I want the fuel trim to never be low so it’s added insurance.

So you're set up is pretty close to our stage 1 package. When guys are ready to step up our stage 2 package adds a ported Jokerz blower (or Kong if you want) and a 103 Nick Williams TB. Usually adds another 50-60rwhp and really makes for a nice max effort bolt on car. We done a few with meth and some interchillers. These cars really do like meth.
E85/flex fuel is great but at your power level you really can't run much more then E30 without fuel system upgrades. You might be able to gain 25-30rwhp but it can be a headache because if you add to much E you can cause damage. We had a customer consistently tell us how bad his car was running because he kept putting to much E in it and it leaned out. If you want to run more E a cam and a low side upgrade are recommended. |
