Just me I guess.
...This!

If ZL1 had nicer amenities and went faster, without being such a gas guzzler Id be cool without the MR all day long.

Please explain the time from my last post here and why some cars are not doing so good? Here is the post from Sprspt again!
F1st pass stock ZL1 with slicks and skinnies - 11.43 @ 120.88

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

100 percent stock just slicks and skinnies.
11.43 @ 120.88
found this post from Sprspt with a stock ZL1 from a few weeks ago.

That trap speed is a good indicator of HP. 111 mph traps is what a car making 100hp less than the ZL1 should be trapping in those conditions.
maybe the car really weighs 5300lbs? jk

In auto, it was shifting well before 6k...more like 5.5K. The temp was 90ish degrees and muggy with DAs around 1950ft. A little underwhelming but ok considering conditions and no cool down.
OP, you said your BEST run was a 12.54@111... Well, what were the times on your other runs?

Better yet, how about a few datalogs of passes?
this. some empirical data would be great.

Maybe it wasn't stock?

That time is on the far end of the spectrum as compared to every other time we have seen. He sure hasn't posted up any other runs either.

GM managed 11.9x in -57 DA, flypaper starting line, and DR's.

I dont' think slicks and skinnies are gonna do half a second better than just a DR car.

Its the same powerplant. Minor bolt on to me is a 20 minute CAI.

I'd like to see someone just a do a pulley, a ZR1 camshaft and a tune...simple
2.55 pulley, intake and a canned tune to get that time. I have ID850's, ported throttle body, 2.35 pulley and supercharger spacer, now for a dyno at 575 RWHP at 162 IAT2 temps. Working on an updated tune, right now, to squeeze a little more.

The Chevy hype machine is starting to show it's true colors. It's a well balanced car, but 99% of people want a fast 1/4 mile car. I just don't get why they designed this car to STOMP the 2012 GT500 and delivered a car with almost identical 1/4 miles. Then the hype machine PR SPIN began and they communicated that wasn't the goal, the goal was to build a track beast. So dumb. A muscle car isn't a track beast. That's what the Vette is for.

The 2013 Shelby is how you design a car to stomp the competition. That thing, not even broken in, is throwing down 126mph 1/4 miles passes. That's ****ing Dodge Viper fast. Chevy won't have an answer, if any, to 2014.

Most of your post is off topic. But I feel like replying anyway.

The zl1 is both a muscle car and a track beast. Personally, I find this very appealing.

I couldnt agree more. Al O. hyped up the ZL1 Camaro and in reality it's not even in the same league ad the GT 500 on the drag strip. It may be superior as a track car, but there's no way a 4200lb car with less HP is going to win against a lighter car. I haven't seen the top speed testing of the GT500 yet, but if it easily exceeds 200 mph, then that's another blow. Lingenfelter could barely achieve it with a heavily modded car. The bottom line is GM can't overcome physics in the current platform without topping the ZR1. Im still satisfied with my car though. I didn't buy it to beat a Mustang nor live at the track, but I was hoping it wouldn't be so hard to break high 11's when I take it to the track occassionally.

If you want to go fast in the 1/4 mile, buy a GT500. If you want a car that does everything else better than any of the competition, buy a ZL1. Simple.

Nice thought, but the problem is that "doing everything else better" has yet to be confirmed.

What does "everything else" encompass?

1/4 mile? No
MPG? No
Nav? No
Sync? No

Al O. and his simulator and ring time? Yes
