Well, with all due respect sir, if i may... The new GT500 will DESTROY a base corvette... How do you consider that no competition from Ford for the Vette?

Furthermore, the new GT500 is right on par with the MUCH MORE expensive ZO6, performance wise... Again i ask, how do yo consider that no competition from Ford for the Vette?

A little further than that, the new GT500 is nipping at the heals in terms of performance, of the 110K+ ZR1. Yet you say no competition from Ford for the Vette...

The performance numbers for the GT500 are indeed well above a base Vette, very close to a Z06 (at least in a straight line), and not too far off a ZR1. So from a raw numbers perspective, ok.

But it is a 4 seat pony car, not a 2 seat sports car. I'm sorry, I just see it in a totally different class (not better, not worse, just different), thus not a direct competitor.

I agree... The two cars are definitely not in the same class. But as far as performance goes, the Shelby is giving the Vette a little competition.

That is until the C7 is released... Lord knows how crazy that thing will be...

True, Its certainly not a direct competitor for a vette. The GT500 is made to be "king" of muscle cars. The vette is made to be America's "super car". Two totally different things. despite numbers.

They're certainly not perfect...were that the case, then the auto Industry would have no purpose, no drive....

But frankly, if you don't think GM is in the game (and on top)....then I'm concerned you're not watching very closely at all.....

EDIT: That in response to the OP....I'm a little rushed in my posting tonight, I didn't read all the way through...

They were Mustangs, and I don't really see how they were any worse than a Camaro with a 145 horse 350.

GM offers a better power train warranty than Ford does.

ZL1 5yr/100k miles
GT500 5yr/60k miles

And GM covers track days.
