Cheap muffler delete for non NPP SS's
Hey I had a local exhaust shop quote me $200 to do a muffler delete on my 16 SS and while that is reasonable it's be nice to if there was a mandrel bent kit I could buy vs the (sometimes) crappy bends exhaust shops do.
Currently the cheapest axle back I can find is $470 and has quad tips which won't fit my rear valance anyway. Figured someone would have come up with a jig for some simple aluminized 3" mandrel bent muffler delete pipes by now? |

Tell them they'll do it for 60 or the next shop down the road will do it. Sorry but I won't pay anyone $200/hour for basic work

Know what size pipe they used? I requested the shop do 3" to minimize drone and back pressure due to the kinks of a standard pipe bender vs a mandrel.

Also I'm beginning to think either this shop was feeding me a line or they aren't too skilled. He was wary of the degree bends he'd need to use.
And he was very wary of being able to install a couple super 10 mufflers later if I didn't like how loud it was. He didn't even think he could do it. |

Hey has anyone posted any HP gains from just the muffler delete? Just curious if it'd even do anything to power since I assume this is a tq based ecu? But I could be wrong.
I've seen big power added with a CAI (+15whp/30wtq) which is surprising but idk if thats with a tune or not. Pretty much accepted I'm forced into stock power until my warranty is up or close to it. But it'd still be nice to gain some big numbers with warranty friendly mods. Looking forward to a full flexfuel tune and headers someday, seen 470whp with those mods! |

I got a muffler delete on my 16 2ss Monday last week and they only charged me $60. Hardly took them 30 mins and now it sounds like a beast. No drone at all while cruising on the highway. Best $60 I've ever spent

Anyone have any pics of these $60-$100 Deletes? What size piping did they use?
I'm scheduled with a guy next week to get it done but I want to be able to show him the job I expect. Definitely want to avoid two 90* bends. |
