I think the majority here can agree its not the price that's the issue and that you are getting a ton of content for the price, but that you can't get a car with out all the options at a lower price point.

2016 1SS 1 $37,295 (everything I want included)

2015 1SS 1 LE with RS package $36,673

I will just go with the new one with more features

And if you take the discounts away and look at the MSRP between them, the new one looks even better. You could toss Magride in that 2016 and still be under MSRP slightly.

Forget the extra stuff that you get standard. The 2800$ is so you can say Made in the USA. No offense to Canada. Maybe the 1LE will be a stripped down version of the SS like it's supposed to be.

The SS has too much "gingerbread" on it that is now standard equipment, thus the big increase in base price, of course. It has a lot of things that I'm not interested in having on my car. Even before the pricing announcement, I had no intention of trading my 2012 SS for a 6th gen. But if something were to happen to my car and I needed to replace it, the new Camaro will be too expensive. I'd probably go for a Mustang.

The gingerbread is my main issue.

V8 Powered vehicles are premium and going to be priced that way as we move through this 6th Gen Camaro. They will be available but not as affordable as before. For most casual enthusiasts interested in performance style and content will end up going for high optioned turbo 4 or V6 Camaro than the SS. They will make the consumer justify that V8 for more that it used to be.

The best scenario I can think of is they're fleecing the early adopters while the 2017 will have more build/pricing options.

Alot of businesses operate this way unfortunately.

Agreed. The reason I chose my 1SS over a fully loaded 2LT is because all I cared about was the V8 and the Brembos!! Didn't want leather, sunroof, premium sound, gauges or a RS package. They have taken that choice away from us.

I'm hoping they'd have good lease deals on the ss. Do you guys think that'll happen?... or is that just wishful thinking

I agree completely. The 1SS should be more stripped down, approx. 35k. Two reasons why I was interested in the 6gen were the LT1 and Alpha chassis. Now I will wait & see

Well, congrats. According to the poll results so far, this falls into a perfect bell curve, although slightly skewed toward those who say it's too expensive. That means GM knew what people were willing to pay when it finalized the prices.

Hate to bring the bad news. But the big Ole LT1 V8 is being made in Canada along with the new V6. GM has invested $13M to make it so.

Not true, LT1 is built in Tonawanda NY. Along with the 4.3,5.3,amd the 6.2 ecotech engines for the silerado and GMC piskups. The 3.6 is built in Saint Catherines in Canada. Where did you get your info for the LT1?
