For 4000 all you're going to get is a basic re-spray (with little to no prep work done to the previous paint) and you'll have mismatching colors in your engine bay, door jambs and trunk. |

You wouldn't want to pay too little that's for sure. If a shop quoted me less than $7000 I probably wouldn't use them.

Too much. Not worth it, unless you are building a serious show car.
Imagine the performance mods 8k could get you? |

My first guess would be a lot
We had a commercial I remember growing up, $99 special "Take the uglies out of your car" And before, I'd heard not $10,000, more like $15,000, or as much as you want

A quality basic paint job and 3-5 layers of clearcoat will run you a minimum of $3K to $4K. Anything less than that won't be worth a crap.

For a color change about $8,000 for a decent job and from there it goes up over A 100k if you got it.

Wonderfully Awful Idea

With trade in on your 1LT (depending on what you still owe) another 7 grand for new paint less for used. The up side is it will be a total color change and lowers the odometer reading. The down side is it's still factory color. But a total color change and a new car smell.
