A/S Setup and Quick Intro.
Hi everyone, I've been driving and occasionally tracking M3/4s with a couple year stint in two GT350s mixed in there. I've never been a GM fan and haven't owned one in 25 years. After being disappointed with my M3/4s for various reasons and nightmare reliability/quality control issues with the GT350s I decided to give GM a try. So far I'm extremely happy with the car and if it doesn't turn into the situation I had with my GT350s I'll be a very happy man.
Any way, I had a couple requests to post my A/S cold weather setup. I don't plan on driving the car in snow, but if it is just cold, but clear roads I'll take it out from time to time. I'm running 19X10 Apex ARC-8s in the front and stock size 19X12 in the rear (Anthracite color). I had to do a lot of research to find a suitable all season tire setup since no manufacturer makes a matching set in ZLE sizes. I settled on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZP tires. They are 285/35/19 up front and again stock 325/30/19 in the rear. I'm very happy with them as the car is still a lot of fun to drive on them. Obviously you need to be a bit more careful with heavy throttle inputs, but overall they hook really well. Also I'm usually not a fan of run flat tires, but I had limited options and I don't mind RF tires in the winter as I really don't want to be stuck changing a tire in cold temps. The ride really hasn't changed compared to the stock GY, but the A/S don't pick up and throw the amount of road debris R compounds do. Which, is again obviously nice and easier on the cars paint. I plan on getting a set of Forgeline track wheels and then will mount Michelin PS4S on my stock wheels next year for summer DD duty. Or rainy track days as I don't trust the SC3R or Cup 2s for that matter on damp tracks (my own preference from past experience). Here are some pics and thanks for a lot of help the community provides in switching to a new platform. Especially on the maintenance front. I just did my second oil/diff change at 1935 miles so it is somewhat go time now (first one was 500 miles). Last edited by minn19; 11-17-2019 at 12:30 PM. |

Car looks great.
I would highly recommend at least some rock guards To help reduce the amount of crap that is still gonna get flung at the paint. I’m sure they use sand and possibly salt or even worse the brine. YUCK! |

ZL1Addons deluxe rock guards front and rear here on my 2020 ZL1 1LE. Drove car home from dealership, washed and fully detailed, and put these rock guards on before I would let the car leave the driveway. Easy install, zero drilling, a must especially for the sticky stock GY tires!

Thank you! Did running the slightly taller 285/35/19 (Stock 305 /30/19) cause any traction issues?

Welcome and congrats on the killer ride!! I highly considered getting some Apex wheels for my car, but I was looking for a drag setup and they only had the wheel I liked in 18 and 19, and didn't have a skinny front option, so I ended up with some Race Stars. I would've went with the anthracite like you. Nice job!
