Keep this in mind, dealerships put the lowest paid shop person changing your oil. No different than the local tire or oil change place. They will mess it up. This is why I do my own work on my vehicles. Ive had similar happen or the oil never got changed at more than a couple dealerships. No thank you, I’ll do my own. I figure it takes me just as much time to drive to the dealer, wait for them the hopeful not mess it up and drive home as it does for me to do it myself.

I keep it simple. Trust no one. And don't trust the invoice. Just check it before you leave the shop.
In fact, next time, Just before the change, I'm gonna slide my finger down the dip stick and look at the color of the oil. Then do that again before I leave the shop to make sure it looks new.

Piling on with what others have said, If it’s not the correct 40weight I’d make them do it again.

Should re-do it not top it off. Too as noted it's the lowest ranking kid in the place that does oil changes.

I'm surprised it took that long to register low oil, that's almost 50% low.

The other thing I worry about with an inexperienced kid changing the oil is how hard they torque the drain plug. I believe we have aluminum oil pans with a steel drain plug, over-torqueing can strip threads easily. I wish I could find a high quality magnetic aluminum plug with built in gasket like ours.

So you have one installed on your ZL1? I have always wanted to try one of those, if I had one I think I would change my own oil, it seems to make it so much easier and cleaner.

To seal the oil plug correctly do we have to use a rubber gasket like the one on the OEM drain plugs? The Stahlbus uses a copper crush washer right?

Crush washer. You take off the metal cap, insert adapter w/hose, drain oil, remove adapter w/hose, put cap back on. Hose goes right into drain of pain w/o mess.

Also makes taking samples for Blackstone a breeze. No mess at all.

I won't let anyone change my oil. I just don't trust that they will use the right oil, filter or even drain it all.

I've seen other brands of same thing but like that Stahlbus is German, is it the best?

This is the highest quality one I am aware of. I've had mine for 3+ years w/o issue.

Do want!

I might have to get about 6 of them for all the things.

But not from Amazon.

I read some reviews and one comment I saw from a few people is that it snapped off when somewhat (not a lot) over-torqued. Sounds like the wall of piping is too thin, that's weird and seems like a design flaw.

Yes it was OVER-torqued so operator error, but it should be thick enough and made of high strength stainless steel so it strips threads in pan before snapping off. I can control the torque on install, I cant control long term metal fatigue from vibration and heat cycling.
