Dealer doesn't know 2020 order acceptance/production start dates

I just spoke with my local Chevy dealer, and the salesman said he would do some research on ordering a 2020. He called me back a bit later and told me the sales manager stated that order acceptance and production wouldn't start until August or September. I told him I was pretty sure preliminary orders were being accepted and that production would start in late July, but he said that his sales manager would know this stuff.

How do I go about convincing them of something they should already know? Is there an official document from Chevrolet showing the 2020 order/production dates that I could reference?

I just got back from my dealer who was prepared to take my order and after checking told me that they were not accepting orders for the convertible until a few weeks from now.

He didn't say if this applies only to verts or all Camaros.

Additionally, there is confusion on their order site as to wheel choices. I questioned the availability of black wheels and the only pictures and options they could find are from prior years.

So my dealer is going to let me know when they can take my order.

This threw me off as well. I want to order my SS with RPO 56V, the 5-spoke, black painted wheels with the curved spokes, but the order guide shows them as the straight-spoked 2017 and previous version. The wheel designs were updated for model year 2019, but in both the 2019 and 2020 order guides pictures of previous year model wheels are used. If you look at the wheel options on the 2019 Camaro configurator on chevrolet.com, you can get a better idea of the current designs.

I don't know if the current wheels will be available. If you look at the order guide you won't necessarily find the same wheel codes for the most part. I also wanted the 56V but it isn't listed. They seem to be loading up on the more expensive optional ones.

Are you ordering an SS or LT? The LT's have a different RPO, as they are not staggered sizes. Here's a couple pages from the 2020 order guide. The black, 5-spoke wheels, 56V (SS) and RTH (LT), are available for both the coupe and convertible.

EDIT: The images don't feel like showing up on here... Here's the link for the 2020 order guide: 2020 Camaro Order Guide. Just click Print Book, then check Print Model, then click Print. The codes for the convertible wheels are on pages 52-53.

I goofed, I didn't mean the 56V. Is the 56V a black? It says "carbon" (which is black, normally). I have to wonder why they say carbon versus black. I would need to see a pic to decide.

Of course a lot of this depends on the color of the car. I'm ordering a Satin Steel so black would be the best look in my opinion.

Yes, Carbon Flash is a Chevy black paint (it was available on the '12 45th Anniv. Camaro). The other description I've seen for 56V/RTH is 5-spoke, low gloss black painted...

I'm going for Satin Steel as well and IMO these wheels look the best, by far.

Well I suppose all we can do now is wait for the order window to open.

Here's a link to a dealer's ad for a satin steel LT with the black wheels. At the bottom of the Options tab, it shows the wheel code of RTH.

I'm hoping I can get the order for a coupe submitted ASAP. I'd like to be able to drive it for a few months before everything's covered in ice.

I saw those wheels today when I was at the dealership. I also saw a 5 spoke split that I liked better. The order book shows the RTH as only available on the LT. I think that's what my dealer told me as well.

Yeah, the 56V is the same design, just has staggered widths to fit the wider rear wheels of the SS. Some of the other wheels look good, just have to make sure not to order a set of the super expensive LPO options.

Update: A different salesperson called me today. Apparently she was more familiar with the ordering process. She said they could place the order on the 20th and production would start about a month after that, which coincides with information found on this forum. I have an appointment for the 20th, so hopefully my Camaro will be ordered in a week!

I will be waiting with bated breath to see if my dealer calls me about the 20th. I know when I ordered my 16, the verts were a later release than the coupes. I chalked it up to the fact it was an all new car with a different top structure.

I thought I read somewhere that the build out for the 19s was around 7/21 so what you are saying makes sense.
