Definitely appreciate you posting, especially with the pics of the dyno sheet. I like seeing where the torque and HP curves are.

David,

Please don't take offence to what I had said. Even though I don't believe Dynojets are good for development work at all, they definitely have their place in the aftermarket world and work just fine for their purpose there. Heck, a 224x was the first dyno I purchased almost 20 years ago, long before I did OEM development work. I still use one for displaying numbers to the public because people love high numbers, real or not, it is just impractical to use a Dynojet for any real SAE comparison. I have owned/used Dynojet, Mustang, Superflow, Land/Air, AVL and each one has it's place.

People just need to understand that dynos are just tools to compare to themselves, not other dynos, so as not to get upset by different horsepower numbers or even think that OEM's are "lying" about their numbers.

I agree that I definitely appreciate you posting the numbers. I will be most interested in comparing any aftermarket mods from your same dyno.

Wise words, thanks for sharing.

The takeaway for the average enthusiast is: if you bring your car to a dyno, first and foremost get a baseline! When you go back, make sure they use the same correction factor so your "after" runs can be compared. Going to a different dyno will render your "before" runs invalid. You can only compare before and after on the same dyno with the same correction factor, with the engine at the same coolant temp, same oil temp, same intake temp. Otherwise you're introducing variables and your results won't correlate to what you think you're comparing.

Interesting read from HotRod years ago that reminded me of this discussion comparing different dynos

These are the usual LT1 M6 dyno numbers. My SS M6 was @ 429 rwhp on the JRE Superflow Chassis Dyno. I think the LT1s are making the advertised 455 crank at a certain DA. Moisture in the air and temperature affect the final numbers. And don't forget dyno variance. I would guess the DA/Dyno could move numbers up or down 10-15 HP or more.

Dynos runs are most useful for recording mod changes in the same conditions. You can correct for that but it is still a bit of a guess.

You still going to post your dyno sheet?

Guys.....come on. Dynos are calibrating tools...should not be used for anything other than that posting before and after gains....

All these engines roll off the line the same way...

That's my goal as well I was told the Dyno I used was a Heart Breaker Dyno...My goal was to get a good base run then start the mod the heck out of the car....

That in mind LT4 Supercharger is coming
