Too paranoid!

Hi all,

Long story short, my dealer has agreed to replace the shift knob on my 2017 A8, due to a couple of scratches prior to delivery. I'm not sure if they have to tear the center console apart to remove the knob, but from the looks of it, seems to me that they have to. I'm being a bit paranoid as to touching any pieces on the center console because I'm afraid I would get rattle and noise once put back together. Any thoughts on this? Am I being too paranoid?

Thanks in advance

The entire dash of my 2SS had to be removed to repair a HUD problem 3 weeks after I got the car. My dealership has a guy who does nothing but the "serious surgeries" on Corvettes and Camaros, and I was assured it would be as tight as it was from the factory. It sure seems that they were correct......9500 miles and no squeaks, creaks, or rattles.

It may be possible to replace the shift knob without removing the center console:
