One of my favorite things about the LT1 wo/ splitter is being able to zip in and out of most parking lots that have steep entry inclines. Last edited by Chutzpah; 09-14-2022 at 01:54 PM. |

The extra coolers seem like extra failure points, which was another reason I was leaning toward the LT1. The car had to be a V8 so it was always down to the two choices. Having to buy a second set of wheels and winter tires is another hidden cost for the SS (if you drive it all seasons). The interior tech was the final deciding factor for me, the 8" screen and LCD gauge cluster is awesome.

LOL- I haven't looked at the SS. I figured they were accomplishing something similar with the aux. rad. exhaust.

Another example is you can not get magnetic ride control on an LT1, so any suspension that would require the interface for MRC (that you can get on an SS) you can not use on an LT1. As for engine modifications, None pop into my head at the moment, but as soon as I remember one I will let you know.
Also, take your face out of your hands, you look stupid.

Having both the V6 and the SS clusters, each one has it's advantages. I was disappointed that the SS unit didn't display similar. For example, the V6 cluster gives specific oil temp numerically. The SS shows a vague bar graph thingie. The SS cluster does give you more info though.

If you want a stripped down car with more of a drag focus, the LT1 is a bargain.
If you would like more goodies, perhaps an upgraded suspension, brakes, that sort of thing, the SS is the way to go. If you want to buy an LT1 and turn it into an SS then no, that's not an economically sound decision, better to just buy the SS. The same for the 1LE, better to buy the package than try to replicate it. |

I picked the LT1. I think the front end looks better and the fact that a lot of folks will assume it's a v6 is plus in my book. It's my daily and will see snow, so I saw the narrower square setup as an advantage. I typically buy wider aftermarket wheels (and tend to dislike staggered setups) for my cars anyway so this allowed to not waste money on a set of winter wheels. There's a lot I prefer about the LT1 but the reality for many is it's, hard to get all the options you want without some options you don't. Good luck

Do I remember correctly that you have a 1SS with a dealer installed suspension upgrade? Is that upgrade Non MRC? If so, can it be upgraded to MRC? Is it possible for the LT1 to be upgraded like yours? Asking for a friend… |

Man, these LT1 owners can be touchy when you start talking about what their cars can and can't do.

I am not certain what suspension system comes on an LT1, but this is exactly what I was talking about -- LT1 is a mash up of parts and it could very well be it shares a suspension with the LT models. Regardless, you can *NOT get get a 2022 or 2023 LT1 with MRC, so no, you unfortunately can not use the 1LE suspension upgrade.

The prices for parts on this site are pretty steep and can be had cheaper. The LT1 has the base SS suspension, it’s as simple as that. It can be upgraded just like your car, minus a MRC calibration. |
