Agree
Was not trolling
Just talking about trans
I know all the tech differences between those 2 cars.
19ss A10 who drove 16ssA8 will come with the same conclusions about the trans
A10 way better than A8
Lucky ss guys to have this A10 available....
Won’t comment till new 19ss will compare to old one.

Im not 100% on this but I heard the A10 in the ZL1 is different than the A10 in the 2019 SS. Something about the A10 in the SS being just a slightly modified version of the A8 and the ZL1's A10 was a whole different beast.

The A10 in the 2019 ss is not the same as the zl1 A10. It is from the Chevy truck. Maybe it will be heavy duty.

Agree, that was my first thought. All I want is a reliable GM auto trans. Seems the last good one they made was the 6 speed L60e. I wish I could trade my A8 for that trans. I don't yet trust the A10. You can bet it will not be the same as the A10 used in the Zl1. They usually upgrade the auto for these high powered engines.

I'll take this A10 all day over the A8.
The mustang went from a 6 to a 10 speed so it's not the same.

The only way the 10 speed will be better is if the ratios in the useable acceleration range help. You still have to understand, even though the shifts are faster you still lose acceleration during a shift. I honestly don't think you'll see much of an improvement in 1/4 mile times between the two trans.

The extra gears may allow for a higher top speed and acceleration from 70mph+ could improve too. If you get tired of rowing through gears in traffic, A10's a good option

Plus there are just 6 gears to get to 1:1, 7 and 8 are overdrive. With the 10 speed it's 7 shifts to 1:1 with 3 overdrive gears. Since I paddle shift mostly I prefer my 8 speed - less shifting.

Ok
If 19ss A10 is different from Zl1 A10 I’m out...
May be the case, and sorry for you because ZA10 is a beast!!!!

Back to the apples,
If you disregards the cosmetics (hood, front grill, spoiler, recaro, tire size, red trim...)
The 2016-17-18 ss with MRC and dual exhaust is almost the same gen6 as the Zl1
Only differences are:
-surpercharger,
-elsd
-A10 vs A8 we are debating here...

Now you can change and tune the ratio
Then the 19ssA10 may be different from Zl1 A10

It’s a tough choice the unknown a10 or the a8 with the known shudder issue.

Got a 2ss fifty A8
And now a ZL1 A10
Trans are completely different, A10 is way above A8
Switching super fast under charge...
Elsd and diff are better....

So for sure it will be better!
No it doesn't...the ZL1 has a 10l90. The 19 SS is getting a lesser 10l80. The A8 in the 16-18 SS is a 8l90 so technically it's stronger by rating.

Agreed.

I test drove an ‘18 GT A10 right before buying my ‘17 2SS A8. Gotta say the A10 was *constantly* hunting for the right gear, to the point that I found it damn annoying. You have to wonder if there is a point of diminishing returns in regards to number of gears.

That's Ferd's crappy TCM software.

Chevy did a much better job with the programming in the Z.
