Check Engine Light On

This evening I decide to go gas up my 2LT/RS Camaro for the weekend, it has been sitting for most of the week. Well before I was even half way to the gas station I normally go to, my Check Engine light came on and the feel of the car changed. After I made a left hand turn I pulled over to the side of the road and hit the blue "OnStar" button and asked them to check for codes. They came up with two of them. The fiirst one they said was for the Transmission (P2715) and the second one was for the engine (P0700). I asked them if it was safe to drive the car and their response was to take it to the dealership within 7 days. I completed my trip for gas, after shutting down the car and starting back up light still on, drove home slowly and shut down again, let the car sit for a few minutes, then started her up again, and light is still on. I plan to check her in the morning to see if I still have the check engine light. Any ideas or suggestion for my problem.

I just googled them. Both of them are transmission codes. P2715 is something about a pressure control solenoid. P0700 is just a generic fault apparently. Not sure what that actually means. You'll probably have to take it to the dealer.

Is the transmission slipping at all?

When the light came on I notice a change in the car power, more sluggist. It seemed to be shifting OK. Except once the light came on I did not drive as I normally do, I took it very easy and stayed at a low speed.

I believe that code automatically puts the car in "limp mode", which is probably what you felt. I'd take it to a trustworthy dealer. It may be a problem with the TCM or a component inside the transmission. How many miles are on the car?

I am presently at 27065.0 miles. I use my 2005 Magnum as my daily driver. My Camaro is my Fun Car.

That's less than half my mileage... Warranty will cover what's wrong, but still hopefully it's not a big problem. Good luck, keep us updated!

I am past my 36 month warranty on the car, but still in my powertrain warranty. Where exactly is this pressure control solenoid located? Plus I have to wait until Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning to take my car in. I am just glad I have another car to count on.

I would think it would be covered under the powertrain warranty... More than likely, you have to remove the transmission fluid pan to see it.

Try a fuse pull and see if that takes care of it.
You could always bring it in on Monday.

What fuses would I need to pull to reset and clear the computer? Also would it take the car out of the limp mode of operation that it is in right now.?

Fuses 5 and 20 for at least 1 hour. But it might be better to disconnect the battery (negative) for a few hours or overnight.

Was you car strored and if so did you had Stabil Fuel treatment. Could be bad fuel only.

Solinoide pressure CEL code are trans valvebody related....could be simply low on fluid, but get to the dealer as this is part of the drivetrain. If driven low on fluid the trans dosen't last long. DON'T delay....get to the dealer asap.

Good luck!
