Nankang CR-S (CR-1) is worthy contender. 18 up to 315 wide, 19 at 305, 325 in 20"

Costco had pretty good deal on re-71RS installed, save about $100 compared to TR - installed!

Bringing this back up, I just ordered a set for a couple potential wet track days coming up. The weather could go either way at this point and the dry and wet reviews were both very good.
Anyone else try them out yet? Feedback? |

I've got a set of 275/35R18 and 295/30R18 ready to mount for my ATS-V, coming from same size Conti ECFs.
The 71RS certainly are well reviewed in the wet.

Just wanted to follow up on these tires after running them all weekend. I ran 295/35/18 square and it was the first time I've done a rain track day. So take this for whatever you think it's worth.
I was surprised by the amount of grip I got with these. The only trouble I had was in the big puddles at turn 10 at Sonoma, they will definitely hydroplane. We only got 1 dryish session each day, not really enough to put any heat in the tires. I only saw a 3 to 5 psi increase at any point. I tried to keep them at 32 psi. I usually run 315/30/18 AR1's, and the re71rs at 295/35 definitely had a softer feel to them. I seemed to feel it in the rear more through the esses than anywhere else. Steering felt great at initial turn in, good bite, responsive. There weren't any real big losses in traction and they were all very controllable. Just a nice gradual slip which helped the confidence level increase throughout the day. I don't really have feedback for a dry track, but my hunch is they're a bit slower than the SC3 in the dry and a bit faster in the wet. They were good in the rain as long as it wasn't seriously puddled. No real loss of grip driving through the streams running across the track. I will definitely go with a 295/30 next time, and as long as your track drains better than Sonoma, which is awful, I think you'd probably be happy with them overall. |

I'll have an opportunity to try them again on a hopefully dry track in April, my plan is to make 15-20 laps on these then switch to my AR1's for the rest of the day. I think it'll be a good comparison. |

Ran the 275/295 RE71RS on my ATS-V last weekend at NCM.
My frame of reference is the Continental ExtremeContact Force, which is an excellent Endurance 200. The RE71RS is awesome, and provided more traction than I took advantage of at most times. Grip turned on by the end of the out lap and I found I was overbraking a couple turning zones. Toward the end of a 25min session with pressures that crept up to 37ish, the rears would get a bit of slip but it was progressive and easy to work manage - wouldn't call them greasy. I didn't find the tires to have a lot of audible feedback, but you could tell when nearing the limit. There were a couple wet areas in the T16-17 complex, but nary a wiggle.

These have been very fast TT tires on some of the other cars I've ran against

Most of us running FS in SS 1LEs or GT350/Mach1 Mustangs are running the 285/35/19 RE71RS this year, with square tire fitment on staggered-width wheels. It's the best we can get from Bridgestone so far. It's not ideal, but it's fast.

Bridgestone sucks for not even offering 305s
Still running Falkens and combined with the new .827 PAX went from being very competitive to having to raw time AS and come within a tenth or two of STU on less capable tires, which is just not happening in a full-weight SLE without aero given similar driver skill levels. Meanwhile folks in 3000lb Fox-body Mustangs running 295 square Stones or 315 square Yoks and IRS conversions get a .819 PAX? IMO, SCCA is super-shitty for doing this. Has me preferring to attend other events run by other organizations for sure. NOBODY in our very competitive region has the theoretically competitive 3300lb CAMC racecar.
