I did my oil at 500 with the new oil. I'm just over 1500 now and was going to go in to change the diff fluid. Do you guys recommend also doing the oil again? I plan to attend road course event over the next few months. I'll so the brake fluid closer to the event.

Just did my engine oil at the same interval...The first two changes are free so I went ahead with it.

My question to the group is: What about the transmission fluid? If the gears in the dif are being broken in, and if the engine oil needs to be changed to ensure nothing is floating around from assembly, then why doesn't the transmission fluid need changing?

So just got word from GM Canada Warranty that this Ow40 mobil1 is NOT THE RECOMMENDED oil and using it could void engine warranty should there be an issue. I will not be putting this in my car....such bullshit !!!!!

Mail them a copy of Al's explanation as to why this car needs the new oil,
then ask them to explain their position.

another thought,
I bet your oil cap says 0W-40 Mobil 1 Dexos 2 on it, just like mine does

I did all that....no go....this is just a forum with opinions. I even showed them the memo from this forum...no go. Even told them the 2019s will have the new oil....no go. My oil cap says dexos 5w40 but I did nut the 0w40 to install, which I will return now. When I showed them the LT4 memo, the response was the vette must have different calibration therefore requires a different oil. As long as GM CANADA WARRANTY says the recommended oil is 5w40, it will never change. Something has to be done higher up to make the change in the system.

This is very frustating to say the least. I contacted my dealer and they said they were getting this oil in stock, so it is now in stock, went today to have them do the oil change, I have to pay the difference, I said go ahead. They came back in a few minutes and said the service manager said if I went with that oil, no warranty. WTF, total BS, I wish there was something we could do.
I guess after I do the headers and pulleys and tune I will change the oil as I won't have a warranty anymore anyway......Rock On!

The rear diff is only needed at 1500 miles then after your first track event. You can get the fluid on amazon for roughly 16 a quart shipped. Nothing wrong with doing it sooner.

When I had mine changed, I watched and my tech said it looked to be about 50% gone...at well under 1000 miles...

That's so weird man. How does such a big corporation have these discrepancies and no one at the helm realizes this???

Makes you wonder how a corporation survives doing business like that.

I did my rear diff today at 808 miles. The bottom plug had a 1/4 of shavings on it. It was nasty.

Anyone know where I can buy a quart of the Dexos 2 online? I will need to top mine off soon and don't want to have to go to the dealership for that.

Check Ebay. Someone posted a link where it was reasonably priced. If you are talking about 0W40.
